Return of the Jedi was named to the National Film Registry this year - the third of the original Star Wars trilogy to get the nod.

Other genre pictures to get the nod this year include The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, the original A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Wall-E.

The complete list is now on All The Tropes, copied from the official list.

The 2022 list is up on the official list. EDIT: And now, also on All The Tropes.

Carrie and When Harry Met Sally are both on the list. I won't have what she's having.

Also on the list are Iron Man, The Little Mermaid, and Hairspray

Oh, yeah... The National Film Registry released its 2024 list on December 17.

You might have heard of a few of them:

  • Pride of the Yankees (1942)
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
  • Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982; the first Star Trek movie added to the registry)
  • Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
  • Dirty Dancing (1987)
  • Spy Kids (2001)
  • No Country for Old Men (2007)
  • The Social Network (2010)
