Happy New Year, everyone!

Kris's mom Eleanor has been taking pictures of all of us here at the farm ever since she moved in six weeks ago during that Thanksgiving holiday of yours. (And did I mention that I decided after that *huge* dinner that pumpkin pie with whipped cream is now my second-favorite dessert, right after cookies?) Anyway, Kris puts the pictures she takes up on the farm's server where we can all get at them, and I decided to share them with everyone else at the other residences because some of them are so cute!

I'll start with some of my favorites, and post more every few days. I don't want to overwhelm everyone now!


Talking about cute... Jaune and Pyrrha! Eleanor took this on Thanksgiving, and it wasn't nearly as warm out as you might think from looking at it, but she likes posing people on or near one of the sets of steps up to the porch. (For those of you who haven't been, the house is *huge* -- bigger than our house on Patch -- and we have a *lot* of porch!)



These next couple are from about a month later, after one of the snowstorms. Jaune helped dig us out:



Pyrrha had a little trouble handling the snow and the cold at first, because Mistral's a lot warmer than Minnesota. Kris said the climate of Mistral is supposed to be kind of like your Mediterranean area in a lot of ways? Anyway, when she's bundled up, she can cope with the winter weather:



Blake isn't that happy with the cold, though, no matter how much she bundles up. Sorry, Blake!




And since I've posted one of my team, here's the rest of us.

Don't you dare throw that snowball at me, Yang!



Weiss looking elegant like usual. (I get so jealous sometimes. Then I have a cookie and I'm better.)



And me! Eleanor takes such good pictures of all of us!



I guess it's only fair that I finish up Team JNPR, since I started with Jaune and Pyrrha.

Ren was trying to stay out of the snowball fight, although he was enjoying watching it. Of course, like ten seconds after Eleanor took this, Yang nailed him in the face with a snowball.




And Nora after Yang got *her* with a snowball, too.




EDIT: Oh, I just have to add this one. I talked Weiss into dressing like a farm girl, just for fun. She didn't want to but I pestered her until she did it just to shut me up. Never underestimate the power of persistence! Anyway, I think she looks *so* cute!



Anyway, that's it for this batch. I'll post more in a day or two!

Hi, Ruiko! I can't answer for everyone (especially while I'm hiding from Weiss ?) but I'd be happy to! But it'd have to be on Saturday or Sunday, when we don't have school. And you should probably ask Kris, just to be sure.

Would Usagi be coming? It was great to meet her at the Christmas party but I really didn't get to talk to her for very long.

How can Yang go around in an open coat and a belly shirt in the middle of winter in Minnesota? I mean, Chicago's winters are almost as bad as yours, and no one here would do that.

Nah, I'm fine. I was trying to dodge Yang's throw, and I slipped in the snow. Besides that was more than a week ago, and even if I did get hurt I'd be all healed up now anyway.

I am pretending not to notice that my sister and Sailor Mercury are declaring war on each other. And I thought Ami was the calm, level-headed one! I think Yang corrupts anyone she comes in contact with.

I don't know what kind of bunny girl Melissa *thinks* you're thinking of, but yeah, Velvet is our bunny girl, and she is *adorable*! (But don't tell her I said that, she'll get all embarrassed and hide behind Coco.)

Anyway, now I'm back home from school I'm taking that as my cue to post more pictures, starting with Velvet and Team CFVY!

Here she is just as she realized that Yang was aiming at *her* now.



Yatsuhashi was the only one who could make Yang back off, mainly because he threw these *huge* snowballs.



I'm not sure why we were surprised that Coco took part, but we were. And I knocked her beret off! She was actually a good sport about that.



Here's a nice shot of Fox that Eleanor took the next day.



And now Team SSSN!

Sun told me the part of him that got coldest during that snowball fight was his tail -- it got soaked with melted snow. When we were having hot chocolate later he asked Eleanor if there was any way he could get a sleeve for it and she said she'd ask one of her friends to knit one. Watching her stretching it out so she could measure it was weirdly funny!



Somehow Scarlet managed to avoid getting hit -- not that we didn't try! We voted him the afternoon's master tactician for coming out of the fight the only one of us completely dry.



Sage told me later that he'd never been in a snowball fight before, but he caught on fast!



I think if Neptune could have stayed on the porch, he would have. But Sun dragged him into the yard and later teased him for not knowing what to do about all that frozen water around him.

Not yet! Nora and Pyrrha kept her from getting at me on the bus both ways. (They were having fun doing it, too!) I dodged her all day at school (having different classes and lunch periods helped a *lot*). And I used my speed to go *right* to my hiding spot after we got back this afternoon.
We'll see what happens at dinner.

Here's some that Rob-oji took -- he's given me permission to share them in this thread. First up, our team's co-captains practising over at the woods behind the Billings Estate.



Next, our smart girls getting in some practice. Ami's attacking, Kazari's spotting. When I asked Ami whether she was cold wearing just her Senshi uniform, she said she got a lot colder at D-Point. Medical school has been a bad influence on her sense of humour.



Here's one of Rei and Kuroko. I don't know how she manages to stay warm wearing tights instead of slacks in the weather we've been having this week.



Rob-oji got this shot of Mako-chan and Mina-chan stockpiling ammo. Mako-chan said to blame Yatsuhashi for the size of the snowball at the bottom of the stack.



After Chibiusa and Mamoru saw the snowball stack, they decided they wanted to play in the snow instead of fighting. Too bad, because Mamoru-san is really good at throwing things. OTOH, totes adorbs pic. Rob-oji caught the moment when the fourth snowball on the stack fell off.



Our resident Misaka Sisters decided that they wanted to play, too. Niiko (for folks who know of them but don't know them, she's number 10032) had to show off and use the others' vision... and use that big snowball that was set aside for Yatsuhashi. Spoiler alert: It was too big for any of the Misaka Sisters to throw very far. And they're getting good at faking emotions, aren't they?



And, finally, Kasumi and I aren't the best at throwing things. We're just normal girls. Oh, right; Kasumi's living here instead of with the rest of the Tendo family now, so she can get a tuition discount when she goes to university in September. And Rob-oji put me on a Scully Box so we'd look better in the photo.

Just a reminder, here again are the ground rules that have been set for the snowball fight:

1. Have fun.
   
2. No lethal powers or equipment allowed. "Lethal" is defined by a normal baseline human, without Aura, invulnerability or other enhancement.
   
3. No powers or equipment that melt the snow or otherwise ruin things for the players.
   
4. Teams win, not individuals.
   
5. All "independent" players will be considered members of the same team.
   
6. The fight ends either when only one team is left standing or willing to continue, or at sundown, whichever comes first.
   
7. Deliberately injuring a member of another team or a bystander will result in the disqualification of the one who caused the injury and his entire team.
   
8. All fighting is to immediately pause if an injury is announced, until the injured individual is taken off the field.
   
9. No snow in the house.

It's noon and the first snowball was just thrown. I'm watching from the porch of the house (at least for the moment -- it's *very* cold out here) and it's... well, snow is going in every direction, people are screaming and laughing, and unlike any snowball fight I've ever been in there are blasts of light and fire and who knows what else, except that it isn't, or isn't *just*, snow, going every which way.

And there's something blue lurking in the snowbanks that's jumping out at people, clinging to their heads for a moment, then diving back into the snow. I'm not sure what's going on there.

I'm (reluctantly) a spectator and not taking part in the fight because I couldn't talk my sempais into forming a team with me. Utena and Anthy came with me to watch, although I think Utena might have decided to jump into the action as a team of one. Which would be just like her.

EDIT: Mr. Wikstrom just let us know that the photo his mother took of all the participants before they started (she was standing on a ladder so she could get everyone) is now up on the farm's server for everyone to access. Here it is:

I've been watching from the farmhouse for the last half-hour and I just have to say, this is not a snowball fight -- this is a snowball *war*, complete with its own war correspondent. Eleanor Wikstrom, the mother of the residence manager, is out there in the middle of the action with her digital camera, getting dangerously close to people doing more than just throwing snow. Doesn't anyone care if she gets hurt? At least she made sure to stay behind Nanoha when she lobbed that "Snowball Breaker" attack.

EDIT: I was just told that Ms. Xiao Long activated Mrs. Wikstrom's Aura -- whatever that means -- several weeks ago, so she's quite a bit tougher than she looks? And supposedly if she does get hurt she'll regenerate, possibly before they can carry her off the field. If it's compatible with magic, I'd like to see about having that done for all our people at the Steeple.

I'm not sure what "activating someone's Aura" actually *is*, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was what gave Mrs. Wikstrom the energy to bound all over the field taking photos for the last hour. She's back inside right now, getting a cup of coffee, but from what I'm overhearing from the kitchen she's planning on going right out again. Mr. Wikstrom is trying to get her to stay inside but she's not having any of that. Something about not having this much fun since she was a little girl and don't you want close-ups of all the action? I don't think Mr. Wikstrom is going to win that argument.

Pretty much the first thing Mrs. Wikstrom did when she got back in was upload the pictures she took to the farm's server. Since I still had the folder open from before, I felt I should go ahead and share a few more of them. Mind you, I don't know who most of these people are, so I can't identify them for you.






















That last one I know from the first post in this thread -- that's Ruby Rose, who lives here at the farm. I haven't seen her here yet, though -- she's apparently still hiding from her roommate Weiss?

Is it just me, or is every displacee girl incredibly pretty? I mean, I'm used to being around pretty girls, what with living in the same house as Utena, Anthy, Wakaba, Nanami, Juri-sempai and of course my sister Kozue. Not to mention Mrs. Addams! But it seems like compared to all the other displacee girls they're the median.

I know you were at the Christmas party, Miki, Marty and I met you there. So were most of people in those pictures; surely you must have met at least some of them?

Okay, let me quickly ID everyone for you that I can: The first picture is Nani Pelekai from Hawaii and her little sister Lilo. The next one is Sakura from Venice -- I don't remember her last name, but I remember her magic cards, because she let me look at them (but not touch! I remember, Sakura! ). After that is Kozue Sakaki and Chiho (Or is it Chiyo? I'm not sure) Mihama, also from Venice. The girl in the yellow coat in the next picture is Akane Tendo from Nova Scotia, but I don't recognize the redhead. The next two are Pecos and Big Norse from the Banzai Institute in New Jersey. (That's the only names I ever got for them.) And I'm pretty sure the little girl in the white coat with the gold staff thing is Nanoha Takamachi from Philly.

Thank you, Jennifer. Now that you've put names to faces, yes, I do remember meeting some of them now. It's just that there's a big difference between what people look like dressed for a formal concert and what they look like dressed to play in the snow. Especially when you've only met some of them once.

Meanwhile, I think we've had our first injury. I've been indoors for a while now, and while I was in the kitchen getting some hot chocolate (Mrs. Wikstrom has recruited some friends of hers from her church to make cocoa and snacks for everyone) I heard an air horn go off. By the time I got back to where I could see the field, they had brought someone in and laid him on a divan in the big sitting room after getting him out of his boots and coat. There's still a small crowd around him, including that Sakura girl, so I haven't done more than just look into the room to see how he's doing.

Ah, that was me, and it was my own damn fault for not paying attention to my surroundings. I was at the edge of the fight, looking for Sakura (my little sister, btw, so her family name is also Kinomoto, Jennifer), when I heard that big guy from Montreal start chanting somewhere behind me:

"I am the flesh and bone of my own snowball.
Ice flows through my body, and frost courses through my blood.
I have created over a thousand snowballs
Unknown to death, nor known to life.
I have withstood frostbite to create thousands of projectiles
And yet, those hands that have braved so much will never hold anything."

I noticed everyone else in the area was running away, and I had just enough time to think, "Oh, crap. That's right, he's from *that* game, isn't he." And just as I did, he finished up with

"So as I pray now, I call forth -- 'Unlimited Snowball Works!'"

And yeah, if you know "Fate/Stay Night", it was pretty much what you'd expect. Except I was trapped in a snow globe when it happened.

Ten minutes later I woke up in the parlor of the farmhouse with hot chocolate being waved under my nose.

I'm okay, really, but that's *more* than enough snowballs for me today.

Yes, she was in fact working on it for the last few days, and did finally come up with something that made both her and Fate giggle about it for the best part of an afternoon. Well, it's about ten minutes after local sunset, if you haven't been keeping track, and the snowball war (and thank you to Admiral Harlaown for clarifying that) is officially done and dusted. Right now everyone's piling inside for cocoa and cookies, courtesy of the Lake Wobegon Lutheran Church Women's Auxiliary. Generous ladies, I'll give them that.

Of course, the farmhouse might be big, but it's not *that* big. And since nobody wants to freeze their butts off out there any longer, folks are portalling home as soon as they get their sugar fix.

Final results? Check back in an hour or so.  I know what it looks like right now, but I just need to confirm a few things before the formal announcement.

Big thanks to the Women's Auxiliary for playing hostess... though was it just me, or did they all act like we were just a bunch of ordinary grade-schoolers having good, clean fun? Cute, really.

Those photos that Ruiko posted yesterday were misleading! The Blossom team was a *lot* better than we expected. And who knew Kasumi knew martial arts snowball fighting? No way she's just a normal girl.

Kasumi grew up in the Tendo School of Anything Goes; of course she picked up a few skills, if only by osmosis. We didn't lie, she isn't the best at throwing things. Mamoru's better than she is. But she *is* pretty good.

Who was close enough to get a good look when Yang and Ami started their "duel"?  Did anyone get pictures?  I was on the other side of the field when I saw Yang do her "I'm a living pillar of fire" thing and couldn't disengage to watch.

I was!  I watched them go at it for what must have been ten or fifteen minutes -- they're both amazing fighters with their own unique styles.  I've never seen anyone make the kind of leaps Yang made (of course she was using her gauntlets like rockets, but still...), and there were times when they were both moving so fast they were practically blurs.  As a merely normal human martial artist it was both inspiring and humbling.  I saw a few moves I *think* I can copy without having magic powers or a weapon like Yang's, but the rest... wow.  Just wow.

When I wasn't standing there with my mouth open I tried taking some pictures with my phone but most of them came out blurry.    I did get one nice one, right before the clouds rolled in:



And it wasn't "I'm a living pillar of fire" so much as "I style my hair with napalm".   The flames got nowhere near the snow so there was only a little meltage, and the snow that Sailor Mercury created more than made up for that.

You know, thinking about it, I'm going to have to draw a doujin about their fight.

I got a great shot of that!  Remember when Yang punched the ground and made that cloud of fog, then launched herself into the air to drop on Ami?  I snapped a pic right after the wind blew the fog away, just as Ami started looking for her and she started coming down.  You can see the "hair on fire" thing just kicking in:



I really want to know how she does that, because it looks cool as hell.

And yes, before anyone gets shirty, I was gathering intelligence for MITHRIL.  If we know what our allies can do, the better we can plan what *we* can do at their sides.  Having fun while doing so is just icing on the cake.

What can I say?  Some girls got it.

I just want to say, Ami and I had a great time out there this afternoon.  I haven't had a really good fight since we got displaced, and from what she told me as we headed back into the house, Ami appreciated the chance to really cut loose -- which she really did.  Those so-called "experts" on the Internet who say Ami's the weakest of the Sailor Senshi have *no* idea what they're talking about.  Of course, part of that is probably the ice/water-vs-fire thing kicking things up a notch, but damn, girl, whenever you want a rematch -- or just a spar -- I'm down for it!

Anyhoo... Just as I was about to post this, a couple pics of Ami and me showed up on the farm's server.  I'm guessing Eleanor took them, although I don't remember seeing her anywhere near us.  I'll just stick them here before Miki can beat me to them.  (And Nana is right.  He's a cutie, even if he's a bit too young for me.)



While a lot of the action was ranged, we closed in and threw punches at each other a couple of times, too:






That shot there, though it might not look like it, is proof that Ami's a lot more badass than she looks -- it takes a *lot* to knock me off my feet, and she did it *twice*.  Girl has got *chops*.  (And if the blowhards online are right and she *is* the weakest Senshi... well, I'm not going to be pushing Usagi around anytime soon, I'll tell you that! )

Thank you, Yang.  I really enjoyed myself, too.  Fighting you was a great deal of fun and pushed me to my limits, something that doesn't happen often.  Even better I got to try a few new things I've been thinking of.  Like the shield, or this moment, which I'm sure you recall:



That was something new I'd never tried before (although it's based on something that the DD Girls used *against* us at D-Point), and I'm quite pleased with how well it came out.

And of course I'd love to go a second round with you!  Call me and maybe we can set something up soonish.
