Stephan Pastis is the only cartoonist I know of who refers to The Who without the definite article, indeed the only person if you don't count his characters, and he only seems to do it, or have his characters do it (as he did in an earlier Sunday strip) for the sake of adding desperately-unneeded frustration into the already-unending tide of rage that Rat calls "being awake".

About 50 seems right; I only know about Wimpy because I once read my grandpa's book about Popeye comics, not because I had direct exposure via TV or pop culture.

I wonder if that meme is 20 years old already. Even 4chan is 22 years old now.
