seems more like something out of Ghost in the shell (we are still missing out on the AI), but the term still applies.

And as neat and cool as some of this tech is, I can't help thinking that these types of things are not emotionally healthy.

Oh, they certainly aren't healthy, in that they no doubt promote a certain distancing from genuine human interaction. (Hell, I'd argue that it took a twisted mind on both sides of the transaction to make and sell "real" sexaroids in Bubblegum Crisis.)
