Canada beats the US for Hockey Gold
Canada beats the US for Hockey Gold
#1
I haven't been this depressed about a sports loss since my Mariner's flamed out in the ALCS in 2001, and I only know I was grieving harder because I don't remember much of that night.  Grats to Canada, they were just the better team even though the US did make a game of it.  If you're gonna lose, OT in a gold medal match is about the best way to do it.

...

I admit, I've never wanted to puke at the sight of a maple leaf till now.

Grats to Canada!
I always get the impression that Hockey just means MUCH more to Canadians. So good on ya and party!
And hey, we made you work for it. That makes it all the sweeter, eh?

Dude, in the prelims the US Team handed the Canadians their buts on a silver platter with a 6-2 score.  I halfway expected a repeat, at the very least a close and hard-won victory.  This result is something of a let-down, though I must admit that it's pretty cathartic for the Canadians.  My hat's off to them, but at the same time... *SIGH*

Loss? What loss? I thought we won that game...

MwaHAHAHAHA! Don't you see!? America was _Allowed_ to come so close to the gold! For only when it seems victory is in your grasp, just to have it snatched away at the last moment can you truly taste Ultimate Despair! That is the way of the Anti-Spiral... I mean Canadians. Yes Canadians. Who are not mass murdering zealot's at all.

Seriously though, I'm glad America won the first game. Made the finals feel like real finals, unlike what a game against Russia or Germany or something probably would have been.

Tsk. Don't you know, all Canadians are required by law to have at least a 6" blade concealed on their persons at all times, so that when the Great Curling comes, the Americans will be caught unawares by their ceaselessy polite overlords?

I'm cool with the US taking Silver in the highest level of hockey in the world, especially when the Gold winner was such a respected (and feared!) group such as Canada..

Hmm.

Shall I restrain myself in the interests of taste, or be sincere about things?

Decisions, decisions.
