3D modeling resources thread

Well, I decided to just go for it. Grabbed Valiant, Victoria 4 Complete, and her bodysuit. And upped for a monthly subscription, rather than the year's worth.

I figured it was gonna be an expensive month. And I was right.

New freebie for Platinum Club members - they obviously intended it to be used in Hallowe'en renders, but I think it just as easily serves as a quiet corner somewhere at Hogwarts'.

You have to be a PC member and logged in to the Daz3D website to be able to follow this link: http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=3133095#3133095

Something for everyone who's getting one or more of the magazines to get that copy of Daz Studio 3: %[link=http://www.daz3d.com/sections/software/studio/files/DS_manual.pdf]the user manual, in PDF].

Edit:
http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=149419]Are you a Poser user who just bought DS3A for cheap? And are you a Platinum Club member (because you can't load this link without being a PC member and logged in at the Daz3D website)?

And if you're in the Platinum Club, have you looted http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=8752]the freebies from this thread yet? (I love the giant chess set - too bad I can't come up with a render for it yet.)

Now (as in right now, this calendar week) is a good time to be a Platinum Club member - all of the items that club members voted to have put on sale over the last month are on sale again.

Including this bundle - $285 worth of models, including the Victoria 4 and Michael 4 Creature Morphs, for $2. If you aren't planning on going with Genesis as your base figure (and you can't if you're using that copy of Studio 3 from the recent magazines' cover-DVDs), and you don't already have the Creature morphs, grab them sometime this week because I doubt they'll be this inexpensive any time soon (if ever again). Even if you have to buy the Platinum Club membership first, you're still saving a lot of money.

Oh, and there's three dozen other specials this week, too, including some other bundles.

It might not useful to some, but I grabbed it anyway. It's a modeler, for organic shapes.

And Digital Arts is now listing the November issue on their website... but it does look like they still offer the digital edition of October's for those who haven't grabbed it yet.

One last freebie for this year's Platinum Club celebration: this bundle of Genesis refits is free with the coupon you should have in your account profile by now. (Not much good for Poser or Daz Studio 3 users, I'll admit, but if you're a Platinum Club member and thinking of getting Daz Studio 4 sometime, you may as well grab the bundle while you can get it for free.)

Edit: I like this sale... Regular Price: $123.75; my price: $8.91

I just updated the Aiko3 Freebies list.

Yes, I know it's still incomplete - I haven't even started going through free.daz3d.com or the Renderosity free stuff section, mainly because the search functions at both sites suck. But it's a start...

A $2.50 voucher, good at Daz3D until November 22: Log in, go to your account, click on "Claim a Voucher" at the bottom of the left-hand side, enter iMt2Share into the box and click on OK. They're giving these away in an effort to get more people interested in 3D modeling - I'm supposed to share the voucher and an image I created with Daz Studio, and post the image I shared to the Daz forums. Shall we all pretend you're just seeing my FenWiki render of Leda Swansen for the first time?

So, you've got Daz Studio 4 because it's a free download. You've got Daz Studio 3 because it's on the cover DVD of practically every UK 3D-modeling magazine last month and those magazines are showing up in North America now. You're wondering what sort of content came with Daz Studio 2...

Wonder no more – that content is available for free http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=1228330#1228330]right here.

I'm almost afraid to download this - my computer might not be powerful enough.

Actually, it's only free until the end of this month - on December 1, it will cost $49.95

So if you think you might want to play with 3D-modeling, or you're a Poser or Blender user who wants to see what all the fuss over Genesis is about, http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/daz- ... item=12194]grab your copy now...

Marieah's store is on sale. I picked up Leatherize and Grime-Iinizer for DAZStudio, and, along with my recent purchases that includes Victoria 4, Angeluz, and a little bit of Space Dweller and the V4 Bodysuit to fill out the gaps in Angeluz, I'm getting back into the render habit. Smile

Blame where blame is due
No.  Blame is correct.  3D art, and especially the procurement of 3d model resources is an addiction.  You are waving a red flag in front of the proverbial bull ($1.99 for platinum club members at DAZ3d.)
Nice render - and when she is in danger she can flap her shoulder armour and fly away to safety (As an armourer and armored fighter the proliferation of bizarre and unwieldy shoulder armour is a pet peeve - there were some pretty gonzo historical examples, but they tended to be... single purpose -ie jousting, looking like a tosser while on parade, etc.)
Reply

Well, I know about the issues with the armor effectively being in one's own way in combat, but on the other, given that it's merely a character illustration for a game, I think I'll leave it as is right now. I can hide the shoulders on that beast, but then I'd have to seek out a set of shoulders that match the motif of the armor.
And yes, I do think "blame" is correct. One might as well have put down a gallon of eggnog in front of me. Smile
