One of the pioneer manga translators passed away Tuesday:

You may have heard of a few of the titles he translated over the years - Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, Gunsmith Cats, Lone Wolf and Cub, Nausicaä, Oh My Goddess...

And he founded Studio Proteus, too.

DAMNIT. 

STOP taking all the GOOD guys away! 

Seriously, I met the guy a couple of times at early Project Akons and attended some panels where he spoke. Maybe that's not much to base an opinion on, but I also followed Studio Proteus back in the day and read his editorials. Toren was seriously one of the nicest, most gracious people in the business, while at the same time being one of the most driven.
