Raspberry pi - any resource sites out there?
Raspberry pi - any resource sites out there?
#1
I'm getting a raspberry pi "to play with," and I'm thinking I want to use it as a file-and-print server (possibly facing the internet, if I can add a decent firewall to the mix). I'm not what one would call a unix guru, though - most of my *nix experience comes from using Multics back in the day. Thus, I need resources...

Can anyone here recommend some good resource sites for the raspberry pi?

Well, the obvious one is http://elinux.org/RPi_Hub .  The Tutorials section can show you how to get it up and running, and Guides will walk you through setting it up to do things.  I definitely recommend setting up VNC for remote access, and there's also a guide there for making it a NAS.  Beyond that, this looks like a good guide for setting up print sharing.
I will warn you that my cursory Google-fu suggests that the Pi is a bit slow to do much on top of printer sharing.  It's worth a shot, but I'd keep my expectations relatively low.

I was using a PC running Win2k until a few weeks ago - I don't really care about "slow"...

Thanks for the links.
