I almost fell for it when I attempted to click the log in paypal link and my computer rejected it. I logged in normally and I couldn't find anything wrong.the double ll in paypall looks like a give away.

Might want to sanitise those links there. Unless you don't mind people accidentally clicking them, or knowing your email address.

And I get a few of those. Despite not even having a paypal.

my rule of thumb is:
if I get an alert email from any service I'm signed up for, and I think it's legit, I log in normally from my bookmarks (not from links in the email).
If the alert is legit, they will have some sort of notification on the user home page.

I get that sort of phishing message regularly ... and sweno's advice is the only safe way to address them.

I never even use bookmarks for that. I always just type the address manually.
