Interesting...

Mechanically, she's a basic animatronic from the looks for things - nothing anywhere nearly as elaborate as ASIMO. What really seems to be remarkable is her AI, which is capable of recognizing songs and singing along to them.

I'll be much more impressed when the robotic versions of Danny Chu's Smart Dolls become a reality. At that point we'll be one step closer to having Persocoms from Chobits.

Apparently, the automatically generated subtitling is done in Italian.

Given that I know neither Japanese nor Italian that's not helpful.

Still, it's an impressive advancement. One of the major issues with machine intelligence is the difficulty they have with languages. Sure, it takes humans more than a decade to fully develop their vocabulary, but basic audio pattern recognition and replication is possible by the age of five or so and is remarkably capable.

Further advances in the AI driving that animatronic could obsolete the massive call centers currently used for answering common customer and tech support questions.
