Frampton Comes Alive was released 50 years ago today (April 10).

To compound that: my sister took Peg and me to a Frampton concert near where she lived at the time, and I was stunned at how old he looked... and this was some twenty years ago or so.

Don't have the4 energy to look up the actual lyrics and do a full treatment, but after pushing to get all the groceries up the stars at once rather than make two loads, I'm most assuredly singing "and I'm regretting it, really regretting it" to the tune of Def Leppard's "Armageddon It." And I'm only a year older than the band, let alone the musicians, though that song is at least what the cool kids listened to in nineteen eighty seven. And there I was thinking it felt weird when I had to stop reflexively writing the eight while putting a date on homework when nineteen ninety rolled around...

Today I learned that Susan Calvin, from Asimov's "Robot" stories, would be 45 this year, and that the first five stories in the anthology I, Robot would have all happened by now.

On the plus side, we got through 2025 without a Great Kanto Quake wrecking half of Tokyo, no Polar War, and as of yet not even prototype Bio-Metal Androids, let alone going nerserk in the streets. I'm willing to count a lack of MADOX family battlemovers as a zero/zero win by technicality, since yes, they are cool stompy robots we don't have, but the thing is that we don't have them killing people, so, you know.

We also haven't had the Fourth Corporate War or the Great Ghost Dance.

But we did have the empty stadiums from the "just cancel it" Tokyo Olympics in 2020, straight from Akira.
