Of course, there's the question of how much contact Doug is likely to have with Statesman...
It's the philosophical differences that seem more interesting to me anyway. Though the games at least seem to be a bit schizophrenic about how you deal with enemies anyway. Yeah, okay, things say "arrest" here and there, but how do you expect anyone to survive some of that?
(I'm not really certain what it's like in CoV, but at least ICly one of my characters tends to leave opponents alive... after all, a dead opponent can't be beaten up again later.)
One thing that might affect Doug's reactions (and thus how much trouble he gets into) would be whether or not things seem to be getting better. Of course things are kind of static playing the game, it's a MMORPG. The comics... well, from what I've heard some of them aren't really very much like the sort of world the game is anyway. (Though I haven't heard about the more recent issues.) But if in whatever world Doug were to visit, non-terminal solutions are generally *working*, he'd probably be more inclined to go along. Which might, in fact, lead to more spectacular arguments, but maybe less chance of having to head for the hills.
