I'd like to suggest for your viewing pleasure one of my favorite classic AMV's. Classic not in terms of "it's so good everyone must see it", although some have said that, but rather Classic in that it's from the days when these things were made 100% on videotape. I first saw it during the AMV contest at Otakon in 1997.

I would like to get a reasonable digital copy of "Hair", "Girls with Guns" (Dirty Pair), and there were several others, one done to the "City Hunter" theme tune, and another to the "Captain Harlock" one, I think.
Problem, these were all done late 1980s or early 1990s...
