Kaleido Stage AMV
Kaleido Stage AMV

Just finished watching the anime -- got a couple OVAs to go -- but wow, what an awesome anime. Loved it!

Here's the youtube link to the AMV if you'd like to preview it:

If you'd like to download it, you can download it here: http://www.silverwolfie.net/main1.htm -- click on videos in the left side bar and scroll down for
Dogfight (where dogfight means aerial combat as opposed to real dogs fighting)

Yow.

I don't know Kaleido Star at all, but just seeing that I want to search it out and watch it all.

Who's the production team behind the show? The art style reminded me of Utena.

ETA: And what's the music?

Hahaha. YES! Another CONVERT!

Gonzo is the production team. Hrm... They did Last Exile, Kiddy Grade, FMP and Burst Angel among others. The music is Dogfight by Move.

And I recommend Kaleido Star. The plot is a little bit cliche but done really well. Really, really well. I love how the animation team is like, well, some of
the training for the routines are a bit crazy - reminded me of Battle Athletes although it stopped short - but they said, hey, it would look really COOL
animated, and it really does! Beautiful routines. Really makes me want to go out and get myself to a Cirque du Soleil show. Also, sometimes, in other series,
the genki protagonist can be annoying, but I never once didn't like Sora, the main protagonist of this series. Reminded me of Nanoha a bit.

If you do look for it, find the subs. I've heard the dubbing is quite bad. I do know links to torrents but don't know whether you'd want it? I
think the first season at least is out on DVD already.

I'll look for it and see what kind of price/availability I can get before resorting to torrents.

Oh, wow - this is the same person who made "Hold Me Now", which is in my opinion the best Princess Tutu AMV ever. Downloading the video as I type...

Edit: Download's done, and I've watched the AMV. My, but she likes May (who doesn't appear at all in the first season)... She also included a spoiler (which I won't identify); at least the clips weren't in the same order as in the series, so that isn't as bad as it could have been. Yes, this one's a keeper.

Kaleido Star was created and directed by Junichi Sato. He also created and directed Princess Tutu, Magic User's Club, Strange Dawn, and Pretear (and directed Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Gatekeepers, and Sgt. Frog, amongst others). That, combined with http://robkelk.ottawa-anime.org/primer/ ... ml#kaleido]the Anime Primer entry for the series, should give you an idea what the story's like.

Good idea - Kaleido Star was licenced and co-funded by ADV before production started, so there's no question on who owns the US rights.

As a starting point for comparison shopping, you can get the stripboxes (none of the extras) of the two seasons for less than $100 total, according to http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=5497]this page and http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... p?id=11844]this page. (But if you can get the singles instead, go for it - ADV stripped out a lot of extras in making those two boxes. Besides, the collected singles for the second season appear to be less expensive than the second season box set at the moment.)

After that, then you'll only be out two OAVs, which are so readily available fansubbed that even I have copies of them.

Well, I've shown it to Peggy, and she's also interested. But when she heard the music was from Initial D (best as I can tell), she said she wanted to know what the show's actual music sounded like first.

Hrmmm... I think the music is fine. It's background music. But the first OP is the second is
and the third opening is Insert song:

Sorry, can't really help you with the actual BGM.
