On a less-important note, this is probably why Ciara was on Stellvia's list of contractors - once word of this got back to Great Justice, Yoriko would have added her to the list because it's the only thing she could do to repay the crew for their sacrifice.
(And don't worry about the funeral customs. We'd have been making them up as we go along, just like everything else. What you wrote certainly sounds right; that's all that matters.)
