Okay, here's Cyberman 8's build, from the Mids. I think I've got everything covered here. Obviously couldn't include the Veteran powers or the prestige stuff. (He actually has a Celerity: Stealth in one of the Prestige Sprints).
Going by memory, I know that I concentrated as much as I could in the early levels on building his defense, but that there were some odd side trips. (Mainly due to needing to take the health pool.)
In looking at this, I'm tempted on a respec to consider getting Laser Eyes rather than Focus Chi. What do you think?
Other than that - don't think he needs much changing for PVE. He's still a work-in-progress even at this late date. (Note the Franken-slotting where the Hecatomb slots have started to take over) and I still want to get his defense stacked even higher.
If you've got some advice for a "pure" PVP build. Lay it on me. What with Dual-builds coming, I can afford to sacrifice some concept on pure survival.

nothing off top of head, except for Gaussian's. I hate that set. the proc is beyond useless. I take it that it's there primarily for the 2.5% Def

Pretty much. I'd like to not even be wasting a slot on a useless proc, but the overall defense boost seemed worth it at the time.

if you go back into Mid's, and go to the Export dialog, there is a checkbox labelled 'use corruption-resistant format'. That prevents Yuku from
eating your delicious datablock.

One thing I've seen in the Set Bonus Spreadsheet, you can really get some good (2.5%) recovery if you slot in 2 Gift of the Ancients (Defense Set, 15-40).
You could put 2 of them in each of your autos, and only lose 0.1% Defense to each type, while gaining .12 end/sec. I'm still crunching some Sets and stuff
looking at Defense bonuses, but thought I ought point that out.

You aiming for Zone PvP or dueling in the big end of the pool in the Arena? How much dough you willing to fork out?
At first glance of the build its a case O.O ... what is going on here? Then its become clear...
Still here's a little bit of tweaking, without re-arranging the powers, all I did was move a slot from Swift (you don't need to get -that- fast and move it into Stamina. Otherwise, it was just changing the Enhancements. Now this build is closer to the magical 45% figure, and as a bonus you have more endurance and a global recharge bonus.
Notable Changes:
  • Changed the first two toggles to Gift of Ancients.
  • Uniformed levels of enhancements.
  • Crane Kick is 5 x Hecatomb + Mako
  • Added LotG +Recharge to the Autos
  • Focused Chi to Adjusted Targeting (/SR has inherent +perception)
  • Storm Kick to Touch of Death x 6
  • Stamina has +End boost
  • Cobra Strike - Frankenslot it to get better bonuses.
Possible options:
  • Slot Absolute Amazement into Furry to get Bonus for Acc at the expense of Furry's damage.

How's that? That's only a brief look, and gets you to 42.3%, 42.3% 38.8% (M,R,A) Defense wise.

Noodled around a bit with the current build, can't really make huge sweeping improvements on everything. the 'easy' stuff, though..

Health - get your uniques! Numina's Regen/Recov, Numina's Heal, and Miracle Recov add 17% to regen and 25% to recov vs. your current setup.

Stamina - this one I'm not 100% certain of, but I would look at adding the Performance Shifter proc, and following it up with the Perf. Shifter End Mod,
and just leave the efficacy adapter in there dangling - that grabs a 5% 'mobility' (run, jump speed, jump height, fly speed) set bonus, which is yummy.

LOTG 7.5% - I believe your attack chain is already seamless, so these actually aren't worth your dollar, so long as you've got Practiced Brawler
perma..

Elude - look at stuffing this with 6 slots of Performance Shifter, or don't. I don't like perf shifter in here, but it gets some more recov and damage,
and 3.13% AoE vs 2.5% ranged

One of the things I'm going to try is sacrificing, say, AoE, for maximum Range and Melee..

Heh. I'll take that as a compliment.

Seriously, I know more can be done, but yeah, at this point it's less like getting the engine on a muscle car running smoothly and near top horsepower and
more like getting out all the fine-tuned testing equipment and computers to squeeze every last erg of power and speed out of a Formula/Indy car. ^_^

I like some of the suggestions on the build offered above from Microhue. I've been playing around with some of the ideas in Mids.

Edit: Oh and Wire? What is LOTG?
