Iran Bans Satellite recievers
Iran Bans Satellite recievers
#1
It looks like Iran's leaders are trying to stop thier citizens from getting second opinions on the official government interpretation of things. They have recently created teams of enforcers to search and destroy all the satellite antennas and recievers they can find among thier citizens.

The Iranian leadership may feel the recent war in Lebonon between Israel and it's Hezzbolla forces has put them in danger of finding themselves in much the same position as the US during the Veitnam period or Russia was in in Afganistan with survivors coming home and telling the truth that was being partially hidden by the official news agencies.
Iran's leadership doesn't have to worry about large numbers of survivors returning home so they are taking steps to remove the free press from the equation.
Another thing that probably worries them is that in spite of the knee jerk reply from across the middle east that the catastrophic war in Lebonon is all Israels and the US's fault there has been a worrying number of leaders and arab citizens that privately and in not so private settings laying the blame at Iran and Syria's feet.
Add in persistant rumour that Israel made a major intelligence discovery at one of Hezzbolla's bases during or near the end of the occupation of Lebonon and you have a Iranian Leadership that is getting worried and tightening the screws on thier control.
Alternately Iran maybe preparing to escalate thier actions or envolvment in Lebonon and they are tightening thier control over thier citizen's in preparation for that.
Wonder if we can convince the American military to start rebroadcasting CNN and FOX news on local Iranian TV channels just across the border in Iraq.

Err... while I understand what your trying to say I don't think that your accurate on what happened in Vietnam with the media. If that was accurate John Kerry would have been executed or jailed for decades after testifying before congress that he was the leader of a group of rabid war criminals. One that became a media darling and then never got prosecuted... either did his unit. Which means either he was lying and they in Congress knew it or that Congress decide he was telling the truth and let him off for no logical reason. That and the lone teddy Bear in the rubble picture... and the guy getting his brains blown out picture (which was a VK trooper in civies that just raped a woman then killed her and her small children... and got caught in the act/apartment.) which where used as propiganda by the anti-war political party that the Media decided it was in that decade. Militarily the Commies were loosing... politically the Media was winning over Congress. Also the US government had no Network of its own.
The Russians in Afghanistan sounds like Soviet SOP failing. That one I'll give you. Just don't cloud what your trying to say with dubious examples.

I think that would include going over the border and having military units hack into the Iranian cable lines... which wold be an act of blatant aggression... which would let the Iranian government go all Zerg on Iraq. Which would mean that its time for the 'End Times War' that the Iranian President rants about wanting.
The satellight system are doing what your saying the US military should be doing... nothing like seeing what the totalitarian government doesn't want you to see to make you not trust them. Satellight TV does bad things to Totalitarian governments. Like the Russian populous seeing that stores have to advertise for who has better food/stuff in the '80s... or the Baywatch cults in Iraq in the early '90s. Nothing like going from Burkas to 'Bouncy, Bouncy Beach Goers' to make you not want to destroy a country.
