Eh, sorry the necromancy, but it's germane to this thread.
Healthcare premiums for obamacare going to be lower in 2015
The takeaway is this:

Quote:Obamacare has been a political failure for the Democrats — and,
frankly, a political failure period. Its passage was a bitter,
polarizing war; its launch was multi-month catastrophe; and the law
remains unpopular even today. But the law is quietly losing its
toxicity: fewer members of Congress are running against it, and Republican policy elites are actively trying to persuade their party to give up on repeal and instead "transcend"
Obamacare — which is to say, use it as a platform for their own
health-care ideas. This is in part because voters seems to be moving on:
Aaron Blake notes that Obamacare now ranks behind "other" in polls asking Americans why the country is off-track.

The electorate moving on means Obamacare's mounting achievements
don't get nearly the attention of its early failures. But the law, at
this point, is doing more than simply defying the doomsayers; it's
proving to be a real policy success.
So, I'm thinking in 5-10 years time frame, the GOP will be trying to claim credit for the central idea behind Obamacare.

They could have all along. Obama blatantly stole the basics from Mitt Romney's Massachusetts Gubernatorial terms.

This is not a surprise to anyone who knows the history of socialized medicine in other western nations.

Hell, prior to Obama saying, "I know you would rather slit your throats than support a Democratic plan, so how about I roll over, show my belly, and throw my support to your plan?" What is now known as Obamacare was known as The Republican Alternative & The Best Hope for Preventing Socialized Medicine. As soon as Obama said, "I surrender on health care, we'll go with your plan," they disowned it, pasted his name on it, and called it socialized medicine.
Frankly this alone is proof enough that Obama is not interested in a sweeping gun ban. Because this shows he could have a bill to revoke the 2nd Amendment on his desk within a weeks time by going on TV to announce that he's taking out a lifetime membership in the NRA and is throwing his support behind bills that have been proposed to pre-empt state & city level gun restrictions. Overnight you'd have Republicans calling the NRA an anti-American organization and proposing sweeping gun control acts -- because the only real position the party has anymore is being anti-Obama.
"Only a socialist would think guns in the hands of average citizens is a good idea." -- The average Republican Congressman the day after Obama announces he wants to loosen gun laws.

And since everyone in the GOP (including Romney) disavowed  it, Obamacare is now a Democratic party achievement. It'll be interesting in the next 3 and 5 election cycles on what the GOP response is going to be.
