Do we need a VIIOR wiki?
10-11-2009, 05:00 AM
Just what the topic says. I was trying to remember something about VIIOR earlier this evening, and realized that -- at least as far as I was concerned -- the
thread has reached an information density where I was starting to lose track of who/what/where/when. Would a wiki to organize status and details be useful?

I wouldn't say no, it would certainly help keep the timeline straight.

I had attempted to create one for the original VIIOR, and probably still have the server up. Let me dig for it.
Anyone who knows their CSS and wants to donate a better format than the wiki default is welcome to volunteer, btw.

Okay. I'm registered with the wiki, but I can't do anything right now. I'll think on it while I'm otherwise occupied today, and maybe get a
little work in on it tonight.

That's some very unforgiving wiki software, Norway. I had the beginnings of a timeline page written, tried to save it, and got an error message that made
no sense along with a blank page. And why does the link button result in "invalid link" in the rendered page when you use it?

You may want to try setting up PMWiki. It's the same software the TV Tropes Wiki uses. I set one up for the Ar tonelico 2 Retranslation Project, and found
it quite easy to install, configure, and make not look totally freaking ugly.

I'll look into that tonight, Morganni. My key requirement is that it function within the limits of my webspace provider.

Mind you, TVTropes is full of custom extensions. But as I recall, the basic PMWiki from long long ago was still pretty good.

Comparing the requirements of the two, PMWiki should work; I'll see about getting it installed tonight and post a new link in this thread.

Cool. If I get time tomorrow I'll try writing up a timeline stub offline before uploading it to the wiki.

This should be... useful when trying to catch up I hope so I'll say thank you to all you nice people.
(As much as I hate to say it I'm far behind on contributing anything bar my very first post, with the combination of my summer job rushing things at me, it
ending, and then the new university semester starting, and am trying to play catch up. Part of this is my fault for relying on Yuku to tell me if anything was
posted though... and thus I got over 180+ delayed alerts about the VIIOR posts all at once. -_- )

Hey, Norway? Are you the only one allowed to complete the setup of the VIIOR wiki, or can anyone else do it? It's still kind of ... unbegun.

Even configuration? Cool.
Don't know when I'll get the chance, but when I do I'll try my hand.
