If you have not done so already you will need to Link your Cryptic account to a Perfect World Account to continue playing champions.
http://co.perfectworld.com/news/?p=777061 there is the blog post speaking about this, they've been trying to get players to do this for a while now but the cutoff is today, you will not be able to log onto champions untill your linked if you haven't already.

I love how the instructions they linked to on how to do it -don't actually work-.

It was fairly painless to do from the client though. But what was the point of the exercise again?

Perfect World acquired Cryptic a year or so ago, so this is the slow merge of the Cryptic account structure with the Perfect World servers.
Unfortunately, this may also explain the slow update process with Champions. With PW now controlling assets, they're moving developers to their "chosen" game of the month. Which at the moment, is Neverwinter. So that's why there's so little development going on with CO.
