On top of the Dark Kingdom? (Assuming I stay in season one, which is a safe bet as I actually know most of what happens in it...) I'll think about it. Maybe he gets drained during a fight and that provides the extra oomph needed to get Metallia going...
(Although I was toying with the idea of a low-level youma trying to drain him, and Doug hooking into a line or node of power and just opening the channels up wide -- and the youma pops like an over-inflated balloon...)
