Quote:Oh, yeah, that's for sure. But I've been approaching it from the point of view that Takeuchi may have been refining the core concepts. (Not that I agree with all the "refinements", personally, but that's another issue.)
I don't know how much I'd rely on the live-action series for a fanfic involving the anime - there's quite a bit of difference, even more so from what I can tell than between the anime and the manga.
Quote:Oh, they are. I just can't help looking at new primary source material and evaluating it, especially when it shows something new. (A lot of somethings new, actually...)
I'd thought that the approximations we'd arrived at before were good enough as far as this goes...
Quote:Hmm. Okay. My exposure -- to be absolutely honest -- has heretofore been limited to the uncensored first season and of course umpty-zillion fanfics. Oh, and the first five or six manga volumes, too. Of course, she doesn't have anything like a major role by that point. Still, the live series shows a Minako who seems hypercompetent, not to mention infected with a bad case of Batmanitis -- she's rather grim and serious.
This might well be the case even in the anime and/or manga, actually - she's truly formidable, it just gets lost under her... quirky personality most of the time. I'm not really a Minako fan, particularly, but there are times when she's just *amazing*.
