The Streak.
The Streak.

Quote:
(Ray Stevens)
Hello everybody, this is your action news reporter
With all the news that is news across the nation
On the scene at the super market
There seems to have been some disturbance here
Pardon me sir, did you see what happened?
Yeh, I did...I was standing over there by the tomatoes
And here he come
Running thru the pole beans, thru the fruits and vegetables
Naked as a jay-bird
And I hollered over at Ethel...Isaid don't look Ethel
It was too late, she'd already been incensed...
[Chorus:]
Here he comes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
There he goes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
And he ain't wearin' no clothes
Oh yes, they call him the streak
Fastest thing on two feet
He's just as proud as he can be
Of his anatomy
He's gonna give us a peek
Oh yes, they call him the streak
He likes to show off his physique
If there's an audience to be found
He'll be streakin' around
Invitin' public critique...
This is your action news reporter once again
And we're here at the gas station
Pardon me sir, did you see what happened?
Yeh, I did...I was just in here gettin' my tires checked
And he just appeared out of the traffic
Come streakin' around the grease rack there
Didn't have nothing on but a smile
I looked in there and Ethel was gettin' her a cold drink
I hollered...Don't look Ethel
It was too late...She'd already been mooned
Flashed her right there in front of the shock absorbers
[Chorus]
He ain't rude, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
He ain't lewd, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
He's just in the mood to run in the nude
Oh yes, they call him the streak
He likes to turn the other cheek
He's always making the news
Wearin' just his tennis shoes
Guess you could call him unique...
Once again, your action news reporter in the booth at the gym
Covering the disturbance at the basketball playoffs
Pardon me sir, did you see what happened?
Yeh, I did...half-time, I was just going down there
To get Ethel a snow cone
Here he come right our of the cheap seats
Dribblin'...right down the middle of the court
Didn't have on nothin' but his PF's
Made a hook shot and got out thru the concession stand
I hollered up at Ethel, I said don't look Ethel
It was too late...She'd already got a free shot
Grandstanded...Right there in front of the home team
Here he comes...look...who's that with him?
Ethel, is that you, Ethel?
What do you think you're doing?
You get your clothes on!
Ethel, where you going?
Ethel, you shameless hussy
Say it isn't so Ethel
Ethel..................

Targeted person is relieved of "clothing" and is forced to run in and out of "Frame".
Note, this is a "reduced power" Effect for when Doug gains control of how much mana he can put into a song.
at full power it Strips Doug, and gives him Super speed.

There is a cover of this out some where that is of reverse gender.

"Boogie-dy, boogie-dy"? I would've sworn in front of a judge the words at that point were "Look-at-that, look-at-that." (Which, after all, makes sense in context.) Guess it was just my imagination trying to make sense of nonsense lyrics.
Y'know, I mentioned this in connection with another song once, but a villain who knew Doug's powers might be able to do some real damage by somehow neutralizing the tuneplug -- and then blasting a song that has an effect Looney doesn't want. Such as stripping him naked and making him run at super-speed....

The song is worded in such a manner that it is about somebody other than the singer. The only reasons, I can think of, that the song is affecting Doug is probably because;
A. He's putting way to much power into the song causing it to "overload" and back fire.
B. He hasn't tried to target someone else, and the songs target is defaulting to him.

That doesn't really matter. Hey Man Nice Shot is also about somebody other than the singer, and it gives Doug a power.
Besides, I recall that previous discussion about this song pretty much cememted it as a "Doug becomes a naked super-speedster" song. The only reason it isn't in the Arsenal is because Bob never gave that effect his blessing, although he did say it could have been one of the songs in the "no shit, there I was" story Doug told Kate at the end of DWII.

I believe you're correct, DH.

You know, I'm feeling in a weird and generous mood right now. Let's stamp this official -- the song makes Doug flash as the Flash -- and the story he told Kate is about the one time he needed to and voluntarily chose to use it.
Now I just need to actually come up with the story...

From "The Official Ray Stevens Web Site": www.raystevens.com/SongLy...yrics.html it is:
Quote:
Here he comes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
There he goes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
And he ain't wearin' no clothes
or
Quote:
He ain't rude, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
He ain't lewd, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
He's just in the mood to run in the nude
Edit: Added missed part of lyric.

Wow. All these years I thought it was "lookit that, lookit that". Who'd ever think a mondegreen would make more sense than the actual lyric?

I always thought it was based on using "boogie" to mean moving in a hurry, e.g., "I need to get there now, lets boogie!" He just used the "boogied" form but stretched it out to three syllables instead of two.
