Song of the Day, 2/21/03
Song of the Day, 2/21/03
#1
This is apropos of nothing except the "song spellbook" thread; I've gotten a couple of emails asking just what this song is, since I listed it in Doug's repertoire. It's an oldie from the sixties, and it seems custom-made for his use. Think driving beat, old rock organ, and a really psychotic vocalist.

(bellowed)
I am the god of hellfire and I bring you:
(sung)
Fire, I'll take you to burn.
Fire, I'll take you to learn.
I'll see you burn!
You fought hard and you saved and learned,
but all of it's going to burn.
And your mind, your tiny mind,
you know you've really been so blind.
Now's your time burn your mind.
You're falling far too far behind.
Oh no, oh no, oh no, you gonna burn!
Fire, to destroy all you've done.
Fire, to end all you've become.
I'll feel you burn!
You've been living like a little girl,
in the middle of your little world.
And your mind, your tiny mind,
you know you've really been so blind.
Now's your time burn your mind.

I have mp3 of a cut of this attributed to a group called "Die Krupps".
Whether it's a cover or a different pseudonym, I can't say.
Blessed be.

Woohoo!
I listened to this song about a million times when I was a little kid. Off of a tape... either Sock-hoppin' Sixties or Electric something...
Gah. I forget. At any rate, that's how I know things like Magic Carpet Ride and Spinnin' Wheel, and Eli's Coming.

As a wise man once said, "Google holds all answers." A quick search reveals that it's a cover:
inferno.dse.nl/issue10/diekrupp.html for example.

I mainly know it thanks to the AM rock station I used to listen to in the 70s... until I found an MP3 of it a year or so back, I hadn't heard it in almost 20 years...
