I was watching TV on Sunday, and lo and behold what appears on TV but "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", the "musical" staring the BeeGees and featuring loads of Beatles music.
It's a rather star-studded production, feautring George Burns as the narrator, with cameos by Areosmith, Alice Cooper, and...Steve Martin. Steve Martin's bit is particularly hilarious, not the least of which because of the song:

Joan was quizzical, studied metaphysical

Maxwell Edison majoring in medicine
Calls her on the phone

A knock comes on the door...

On a related note, I still think that a Pepperland step would be great (probably set after the events of the movie). Firstly, because we could have some fun with Doug and limit his repitoire to Beatles songs. Secondly, if they never had Yellow Submarine in his world, it would be great seeing him work out the unusual rules of the world (e.g. the Sea of Time, the Sea of Holes). And thirdly, because for once he would not be the only person around that can create magical effects with music; it works for everyone basically.

Oh, I agree. I love the imagery of Yellow Submarine so much, and I think it would an immense amount of fun, although I was thinking of dropping him into the middle of the Blue Meanie War, probably as a side effect of the Submarine crossing dimensions itself.
On a related note, there was a bit that I'd always wanted to get into DW2, but never found a way to work in... I wanted to give him a song that let him manifest The Glove -- and send it roaring down the streets of MegaTokyo to "oblueterate" boomers.
