A couple more songs
A couple more songs
#1
Pat Boone "Speedy Gonzales"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0PiQCKrvCI

SPOKEN: It was a moonlit night in old Mexico. I walked alone between some old
adobe haciendas. Suddenly, I heard the plaintive cry of a young Mexican girl.

You better come home, Speedy Gonzales
Away from tannery row
Stop alla your a-drinkin'
With that floozie named Flo
Come on home to your adobe
And slap some mud on the wall
The roof is leakin' like a strainer
There's loadsa roaches in the hall

Speedy Gonzales, why dontcha come home?
Speedy Gonzales, how come ya leave me all alone?

SPOKEN in a male Mexican accent: "Hey, Rosita-I hafta go shopping downtown
for my mudder-she needs some tortillas and chili peppers."

Your doggy's gonna have a puppy
And we're runnin' outta coke
No enchiladas in the icebox
And the television's broke
I saw some lipstick on your sweatshirt
I smelled some perfume in your ear
Well if you're gonna keep on messin'
Don't bring your business back a-here

Mmm, Speedy Gonzales, why dontcha come home?
Speedy Gonzales, how come ya leave me all alone?

SPOKEN in a male Mexican accent: "Hey, Rosita-come queek-down at the cantina
they giving green stamps with tequila!!"

Power: Superspeed (what else?), possible side effects include being turned into a mouse, sombrero, mexican accent or combination of them.

Skillet "Monster"

The secret side of me
I never let you see
I keep it caged but I can't control it
So stay away from me
The beast is ugly
I feel the rage and I just can't hold it

It's scratchin on the walls
In the closet, in the halls
It comes awake and I can't control it
Hidin under the bed
In my body, in my head
Why won't somebody come and save me from this
Make it end

I feel it deep within
It's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I hate what I've become
The nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster

My secret side I keep
Hid under lock and key
I keep it caged but I can't control it
Cause if I let him out
He'll tear me up, break me down
Why won't somebody come and save me from this
Make it end

I feel it deep within
It's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I hate what i've become
The nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I feel it deep within
It's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster

Its hidin in the dark
Its teeth are razor sharp
There's no escape for me
It wants my soul it wants my heart

No one can hear me scream
Maybe its just a dream
Or maybe its inside of me
Stop this monster

I feel it deep within
It's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I (feel like a monster)
I hate what i've become
The nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I feel it deep within
It's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I've gotta lose control
It's something radical
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster

power: possibly a 'Jeckyl and Hyde' effect, unleashing Doug's darkside. It might be on his 'locked out' list.

...Huh. Does this predate the cartoon character? It certainly doesn't sound like it's based on him.

As for effect, I'd have to go with Rob's suggestion, as there's little in the song proper to suggest superspeed on its own, and if it's going to manifest something influenced by the cartoon, a simulacrum would probably be more direct than turning Doug into some combination of mouse, Mexican, fast or all of the above.

Mm. Yes. I like the idea of a "hulk-out" song. We know he can berserk under the right conditions; maybe this triggers a berserker rage, while allowing his magic to lash out or even bulk him up.

Well it appears to at least be semi-based on the WB character, the spoken lines by 'Speedy' in the song were appearantly voiced by Mel Blanc.

According to this, Speed was first created in 1952 (though his design was different at first, and was revamped in 1955 to what we normal picture him as).  The song hit the charts in 1962.

The first time I heard "Monster" on the radio, I thought about how perfect it would be for a Naruto AMV. It would work equally well to produce a simulacrum of Naruto actively drawing upon the power of the Kyuubi. Even if Doug never visits the Narutoverse, if he's capable of summoning simulacrums of hyperactive cartoon mice with cheesy Mexican accents, he should be able to summon hyperactive blond demon container anime characters as well. And if watching the Naruto anime lets him summon Naruto, it might also allow him to take advantage of a suggestion I made several years ago, with the song from Grease titled "Hand Jive" allowing him to perform jutsu.

Inspired by the conversations in this thread is a new idea for an old suggestion.
Way back when, I sugested the song 'That Smell' by lynyrd skynyrd. I forget what power I suggested, but maybe it creates a simulcrum of Pepe Le Pew. 8)
As for Speedy, well, after you commented, I started wondering myself. 8)
