Enterprise Theme Song
Enterprise Theme Song
#1
Faith of the Heart by Russell Watson
It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothings in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No there not gonna hold me down
Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart
It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I finally have my day
I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No there not gonna change my mind
Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart
I've known a wind so cold and seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel are only winds of change
I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain
But I'll be fine
Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart
Faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
That no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart
Its been a long road

A gatesong that Doug could use late in the series. Some of the lyrics will leave him hoping that it'll get him home, but it'll be more likely to send him to a spaceship in a sci-fi dimension (perhaps Firefly/Serenity?).

I dunno that Doug would use it as a gate song, as there's no explicit "going home" type reference in it...

Hmmmmm...

Confidence song, maybe?

I figured that Doug would eventually decide that his problem was going with songs about home and so would decide to try a promising one about ending his journey. With lyrics like:
It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near
and
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothings in my way
and
I'm going where my heart will take me
and
It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I finally have my day
and
I've known a wind so cold and seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel are only winds of change
Doug may believe that the hopeful message about ending journeys and going to where his heart leads him sounds like a good bet for finally getting back to his wife.

Possible. I can really see about 2 possibilities, the first being an AOE confidence booster (plus X to save vs ______ in game terms) or, more frightening, a general empowerment song... If you have enough faith that you CAN do it, Doug's magic will help you. (Will saves from both parties, One for the Person's faith and the other for Doug's)
Hear that thunder rolling till it seems to split the sky?
That's every ship in Grayson's Navy taking up the cry-

NO QUARTER!!!

Mmm. Point.

There's something very tempting in that idea, too...
