#1 - The invisible (mostly) Freind(?)

Around Harry's first accidental magic, the energy flare attracts a type of semidark semisweet creature that wizarding parents know to watch out for and
chase off. Harry, of course, is on his own, and the #4 wards don't react because the critters act to protect their mark once chosen, and don't
technically do any harm, just syphon off radiated magic, at least in the initial stage. Since this cuts down on manifestations, it actually

makes life easier for him with the Dursleys. Prolonged feeding off a single individual makes the ... let's call it a puckle... start taking on traits
similar to the mark, including intelligence and the opposite apparent gender, though only the mark (and probably Luna) can see one. The puckle only knows what
it learns after becoming intelligent and aware but does have the instincts to protect and feed, and as accidental magic usually starts tapering off by then
combined with needing more power to manifest a

human form to the mark and use the poltergeisty telekinesis that begins to develop, will begin either egging the mark on to let thier magic flare, or to give
the puckle a few drops of blood as a transfer medium. The increased draw can be a problem for kids with weak magical cores, but Harry's ok... except that
it's all too easy to use the blood method if his rellies notice a flare or just after Dudders has a go at him. Quite by accident they discover that letting
the blood fall on the head of a puupet,

action figure, stuffed animal, or even just a ragdoll or stickman allows the puckle to possess it and with practise appear in human form and seem solid,
whether in not-twin form or as the figure represented by the toy. Much Dursley-panic ensues the first time, but after that they keep it as hidden as possible,
just getting chores done twice as fast unwatched or playing after hours in his closet. The magical excercise does make his core grow faster, but the constant
drain puts him around/a bit behind canon,

so there's no visible benefit at first. When hormones start to hit the mark a puckle enters its adult stage and gains the ability to feed from magic other
than the bonded host, and also wanting to spawn... as one might expect, this can lead to some active and interesting 'dream' encounters with a
telepathic, telekinetic thaumivore and a teenager involved. The puckle is also apt to advocate experimentation with other humans and attempt to set up
'chance' encounters, though not maliciously, just from the

subconscious, instinctive awareness that puckle spawn need young mages to feed from.

How to tie any of that to a larger plot is questionable, but that's why it's here in the hutch.

#2 OMG MINDF@CK!

Shortly before Xmas hols 5th year, someone goes missing. On the train, someone knocks on the compartment door then runs off, leaving a wrapped present. Harry
or a freind thinks they catch a glimpse of green trim, but dismisses it because why would a Slytherin 1st or 2nd year be leaving a gift marked

'to Harry, from An Admirer?' Ribbing implies TBWL smexxiness crushes extend even to cross House lines. It contains a chess set. It works normally... at
first. Then pieces taken start turning into people he knows. Hitting it with a Finite makes them look like that all the time, using a damaging spell makes the
peices cast it in miniature instead of using melee weapons to take each other, and using a stunner triggers a recorded game that ends with the victorious Black
king turning into Voldemort, delivering

I think #1's best method is to have said critter alter events to annoy Tom to wits end. For instance in book 1 have harry get a cut getting that flying
key and then bleed a few drops on that chess piece he is riding. Later have the chess piece randomly run into the room, through the flame wall and paste the
left overs of the defense teacher... a drop of stone juice adding some random bonus to the already overcharged critter... which can be used to start a series
random minor power ups... ones that get the critter psuedo noticed... but also totally screw up IDing the thing. Once they get the map she is likely to show
up near them... maybe not at first, but after a few power ups. Even if the first power up is an increased feed efficiency that means Harry gets a sudden
increase of power... which is less of a drain and not a real power boost.

I'd suggest having Luna start following Luna around and her getting into conversations with the critter... Harry can here both sides just fine and is stuck
in the random position of being in regular 3 way conversations where he must both cover up the existence of one of the participants and make it look like he
and Luna are talking to each other... which while Harry is a bit of a wreck... Luna thinks its a game and keeps throwing him curve balls and the third
participant is joining her. She is lonely and her friend Ginny keeps wandering off at odd times.

Come the end of the Triwizard cup and in the graveyard... things go weird on Voldie... First Cedric actually dodges the green death but it hit a angel statue
behind him and that falls on him... well squished is dead so close enough. Things go more of less as cannon... except the statue managed to catch itself
enough so it only clubbed him a bit on the way down... a cutting curse nicked Harry... So they get as far the 'Flesh of a servant, willing given'... go
to drop Baby Voldie thing in and he is joined by 'the head of a servant inexplicablely and accidently given... by a stone angel with a sword' Cedric
gets to see the ensuing mess via a concussion... all he could make out was angels (the first one and then the one that holds Harry for Voldie) fighting Death
Eaters and some hideous thing coming out of a giant cauldron and Harry fighting it.... While the effects of the head itself may be minor.... the potion based
shampoo and conditioner and hair goo and what not, possibly potion based make up and the enchanted head gear so as your sig says... the resurrection is
Nevilled. Big badda BOOM!!! Kettle shrapnel bad.

Besides Cedric being alive and rambling about being saved by angels and the graveyard containing a few dead Death Eaters (and or pieces of them) and some
rather confusing broken statues and the remains of the screwed up ritual... instead going after muggles to start.... they go after statues... anything with a
humanoid form and anything resembling a weapon. Harry only tells them some random confusing thing about an attempt at resurrecting The Dark Lord and chaos. A
cult of idiots isn't going to get the same this news... kill it with fire!!! reaction from Fudge.

Basically, small changes and random misinterpretation of events cause things to going into Wackyland.

Hell, there could be a whole invisible society of them, living right alongside wizards.

Maybe even Tommy Riddle has one.

I can see the Quibbler headlines now... "Dark Lord's Imaginary Friend Spills All!"

I suppose it might explsin his extraordinary talent with legilimency if Tom had an innately telepathic being to help him learn the art, but given his attitudes
it's likely that if he ever did have one, one of his attempts at powering himself up either consumed the poor thing directly or inadvertantly, trying to
give him its immortality-as-long-as-there's-energy... yes! That lets me out of the horcrux craptrap while explaining at one blow the legilimency, abilty to
exist in incorporeal form, inclination to

put indelible, easily identified, magically linked marks on his followers, and the ability to possess a prepared subject, if not with the same versatility as a
genuine puckle.

And if Luna doesn't have one, she might be (the Luna version of) horribly jealous, which could be amusing in its own way. Or she could run a series of
Quibbler articles on The Plight of the Puckle, describing the noble creatures thoughtlessly labeled Dark parasites and the hidden society of the adult ones.
All of which may or may

not be true, but none else believes it since it's the Quibbler. Except that Hermione, Ms SPEW herself, has caught on to the puckle's presence already,
and since the books she can find really do support the Dark Parasite on Our Children approach vs. her own observations (indirectly helped magical growth, not
as bad as the Twins for causing trouble) forms the Puckle Appreciators Nondiscrimination Intervention Commitee (or something equally unfortunately named, maybe

Hermione was reading in a secluded corner, completely absorbed in the pages.

This was normal.

The light blush on her cheeks was less so, but Harry would never be one to claim he understood girls. He called her name a few times, then gently nudged his
friend's shoulder.

She jumped and yelped, and made an odd sort of half-flinch as if to hide the pages with her hands before relaxing and acting normal. The flush in her cheeks
might have brightened a bit as she noticed him, but it could have just been the

light. He hoped she wasn't taking ill, Hermione would be miserable if she had to miss any classes due to being sick, and working through it to attend
regardless wouldn't be fun either. "It's time for dinner," he reminded her. "You should go down and eat something, eh?"

"R-Right," the girl quickly agreed, uncharacteristically stuttering and fumbling with her satchel.

Harry caught a glimpse of the cover as she slipped it in, noting, "Bedknobs & Broomsticks, A Guide for the Adventurous Witch? Was that movie

"Oh, er, no Harry, I thought it might be myself when I saw one of the 7th year girls reading it, but, er, it's... spells and things... not at all like
the Disney movie magic."

Unusually vague and terse, that. Often as not Hermione would chatter away about the content of her latest read at the slightest provocation. He put another
mental checkmark in the 'feverish' column, and prompted, "Oh? Anything that might be useful for the Triwizard, or just personal interest?"
