If anime characters were transformers, which Transformer (or vehicle mode) would they be?
If anime characters were transformers, which Transformer (or vehicle mode) would they be?

Here's a few to start:

Naruto: G1 Sandstorm (dune buggy/cargo helicopter) - he's orange with black trim, and neither vehicle form gives away the other, perfect for the Most Surprising Ninja.
Sakura: G1 Arcee (spyder sportscar) - occasionally competent but mostly pretty, pink, and overshadowed by her male companions.
Sasuke: A-10 Warthog - he's an Avenger, it mounts an Avenger, it's good enough for me.
Kakashi: Machine Wars Sandstorm (assault helicopter) - lanky, mobile, and has a pretty good offense capability
Jiraya: supercharged '57 Chevy with white convertible top - chicks dig the classics, and you truly do not want to get in the way of that much detroit steel if it's seriously moving.

Now it's your turn!

- CD, any character, any series, any vehicle. Let's get wild!

There is no hope but Meguka, and Optimus Prime is her prophet.

... Sorry that was the first that came to mind. Any Crystal Dragon Jesus would probably map to Optimus.

KOSMOS would probably match best to Megatron though, they are both gun types.

Subaru Nakajima would probably have a buldozer transformation, and Nanoha would have an artillery mode, possibly an Tulip since it can fire nuclear warheads. :p

Eva character...

Shinji: Toyota Corolla: Ordinary. Dull. Japanese. A bit depressing. Surprisingly hard to break, and once it gets going in berserker mode, hard to stop.
Asuka: BMW 6-series: Fast, German, Sexy
Rei: Mazda Rx-7 Spirit-R Type A. Fast. Curvy body. A bit 'different'.
Kawaoru: Toyota Prius. Technically nothing wrong with it... but you're never quite sure.
Misato: Lexus LFA. Sexy. Japanese. With great performance.

Actually..., that's Eva characters as cars. Oh wel....

Eh, just supplying vehicle modes works nearly as well - just picture your standrd blocky TF body with the appropriate kibbles n' bits to hint at the vehicle as a robot mode.

My pooch says 'that hunky Akamaru' should be a casette and his human (Kiba) a recolor of Universe/Generations Hound with the pop-up lugs to hold a (giant-size) cassette on the back of his jeepy mode. She also says that I should scratch her belly.

- CD, obey... obey... OBEY! Obey the pooch!

ETA: I think if anyone is G1 jazz from the Eva cast it would be Kaji, myself. Even then, he's not really cool enough. Maybe he could be Mirage?

Hee, four more ninja kids, for the planetformer molds:

Choji gets to be Unicron, because who else could I trust to use the power of being big-boned for Good?

Shikamaru gets the shadow recolor, because he's used to shadow powers and sticks by his friend.

Ino gets to be Ultimate Starscream, because Screamer always was kinda fem and she'd be way too troublesome if she got left out of something her teammates were in on.

For the last of them, Cybertron/Primus, I pick Shino, becasue he's used to having his body inhabited by thousands or millions of tiny allies, and respecting those allies singly and in groups.

All I can think of to add to this is Ranma: an agile triple-changer, colours: red & black or blue & black. What each vehicle mode should be, no clue.

Also for Nanoha's vehicle mode I'd be thinking more along the lines of a A-10, AC-130 or AV-8 - airborne gun platforms (or potentialy one with the AV-8). Although a Konig Monster would work too.

Which would make Hayate a Stratofortress - powerful as all hell, but not particularly precise without her AWACS, Reinforce Zwei.

Fate... dunno.

Fate... I say P-38. Quick, pretty agile, and has a good punch (8 linked nose guns) and staying power. I don't need to sing the virtues of this paltform, http://www.merkki.com/poetry.htm]it's already been done (just page down or search for "an escort of p-38s") Of course, the p-38 is one of my favorite craft and Fate my favorite characters, so that fits too for me but might not for others.

I'd rather go with the %[link=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/64/RL_1958_Ferrari_250_Testa_Rossa_34.JPG]Theme Name], tbh. Fate Testarossa, meet Ferrari Testa Rossa.

in a similar vein Lutecia %[link=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/13/Alpine_A110_Cortina_d%27Ampezzo_1972.jpg]Alpine ]

Nah, I'd do something a little more interesting with Fate. F-22 Raptor - fast, deadly, and you usually don't see her coming until it's way too late to do anything. P-38 I'd save for a totally bad-ass Old-Timer. Bad-ass like Optimus Prime, but with with double the life experience.

Trying to think who would suit a Blackbird, but it's kinda tough to think of someone who's that much of a speed demon that doesn't already have a link to automobiles.

Mirai from Moldiver as a blackbird maybe. Yes, she's a race queen, but she's also a flying superheroine.

Usagi Tsukino as a hellicopter gunship due to her hair. She'd really be a dizzy blonde that way.

Maybe Sarutobi then for the 38? It's hard to deny his badassery when he fought three kage-rank ninja to a standstill at once, them being restored to their prime versus him as an old fart, before killing two and maiming the last with a suicide technique. You're right that it's hard to come up with someone for the SR-71 - there's not a lot of characters for whom speed is their defining characteristic above all others. Cheetara, maybe, though Mirai works, as long as she's not having one of her klutz attacks. Of course, she didn't really have much time to get used to being a superhero, and by the last OVA she's much better at it. Yeah, that could work.

All I can say for Ranma is that one of his forms would have to be flight capable (The Saotome school does pride itself on airborne combat after all)

Thread resurrection... success!

I erred here. Hayate isn't a Stratofortress; she's a Nakajima Ki-84 / Army Type 4 Fighter - heavily-armed (enough so to be able to take out a Superfortress), but prone to buckling in the landing gear.

Besides, Nakajima called the Ki-84 "Hayate". (Given http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakajima_Ki-84]its description on Wikipedia, I suspect the anime character was named for the aircraft...)

I suppose it's the bit about the landing gear that sells it.

the Tendo sisters -

Akane: Geo/Chevy Tracker - she's an SUV too, darn it!

Nabiki: Something like a Jaguar, expensive and high-maintenance with an image of class

Kasumi: Volkswagon Golf GTi wagon - looks like a normal if pretty mom-mobile, very sweet and comfortable, but capable of surprising you

Orochimaru... some kind of white snakey dragon thing that goes through hideous contortions (the kind your really feel like it should break every other step.. though even if parts come off they inexplicably snap right back on) and becomes the center of a combiner... it has mismatched limbs that are pallet swap drones of other bots from several different lines... also so random Go-bot limbs for some odd reason.  All in all it works, if in a rather warped manner... it also has a third alt vehicle form which is a white van with no windows or real distinguishing features.
Kabuto is an ambulance version of Double Dealer.  He is at least a double agent from any perspective.
Sasori is a pretender with a transforming shell.... also an army of zombie micromasters/minicons.
I think Ranma should be a six changer really.
Ryouga is a snowplow.  Tough, often mindlessly destructive of the route its on... and every wandering aimlessly over the same areas without purpose.  Also habitually without a GPS, no matter who tells it to carry one.

Sailor Moon - F-14 Eagle - jack-of-all-trades interceptor, and a heavy hitter at that.

Sailor Mercury - E-2 Hawkeye - Not much for combat, but has a hell of a radar.

Sailor Mars - E/A-6B Prowler - hits hard, hits fast, hits where it hurts the most.

Sailor Jupiter - A-10 Warthog - 'Nuff said.

Sailor Venus - F-15 Tomcat - smaller cousin to the Eagle, not quite as capable but still good in a fight.

Tuxedo Mask - MQ-1C Skywarrior - Laugh while you can, he's gonna nail you when your not looking so Sailor Moon can finish you off.

Sailor Uranus - F/A-18 Super Hornet - Fast? Yes. Maneuverable? Yes. Make you wish you were never born? Hell yes.

Sailor Neptune - F-16 Fighting Falcon - Multitalented, agile, low maintenance.

Sailor Saturn - B-2 Spirit - You'd better pray she's not packing the tac-nukes, because you'll never even see her coming.

Sailor Pluto - AC-130 Spectre - Heavy support unit; lies in wait and then... your dead.

Thoughts?
EDIT: As per Catty's suggestion.

Saturn should really be a B-2, not the best at aireal combat, but when you need something flattened she's the one you call. She's also hard to hit (Stealh == Silence wall), but frail otherwise. Also has the option to carry nukes which I do not believe the F22 can as it is a dedicated anti-air platform.

The F-16 is that as well... but as far as I know it's fairly easy to care for as fighter jets goes.

And yeah, I got that mixed up as well... D'oh! F-14 is the Tomcat and F-15 is the Eagle.

How about this lineup then?

Sailor Moon - F-22 Raptor - Slow to get started (lengthy development) but once she hits her stride...

Sailor Venus - F-35B Lightning - Smaller cousin to the Raptor, not quite as capable but still good in a fight. Joint development with the UK.

Hell yes.
