Classic - Is true, but if you scan so that you only read the Author's posts, it's pretty good. Admittedly, it *is* a lot of scanning.

Iron Soul - Naruto AU - This one is different, but the writing is of excellent quality

Summary: Naruto is exposed to an ancient artefact and nearly dies, developing a new 'bloodline' as a result - which sends the story in a completely different direction from canon. Reminds me of a classic Marvel powerup scenario, but there is no crossover. The writer has come up with some unique twists (at least to me) and is slowly filling in a post Armageddon world history for his version of the Naruto-verse.

Fate/Prophecy Break - Potter/Fate/Stay Night Cross - A young Harry Potter is given a copy of the summon Heroic Spirit ritual by an interfering dimension travelling Magus.

Summary: Harry doesn't do the summoning right - as he's just 6 at the time - and winds up with 'Shirou as Archer' within his mind. Warning for AbusedHarry! and power!smart!Harry Clichés. Fun read - even if it tends to overpower Harry quite a lot.

EDIT:

We've all read hundreds of stories where one of the Golden Trio or Snape etc. go back in time to try and change things. This one is a little different:

Seconding this one. The author doesn't fall into the standard trap of slavishly following the canon storyline, with minor and largely inconsequential changes. No, this is an actual story. The earlier parts are all fresh material. In more recent chapters, the story has reached the canon chuunin exams...but with events going completely off the rails.

Second this one.  Well-written, enjoyable, and good at maintaining coolness balance.  The author seems a touch overfond of making Tony the butt of jokes, but it doesn't fall to the level of character-bashing.

No Way in Hell (Naruto)
a crackfic where, after an unintended comment from Kakashi, Sakura and Sasuke discover Naruto's parentage.  Sasuke is deeply in denial.

To note, this just updated with two 'chapters' after being dormant for at least a year, I believe. Still a very good premise.

Well I'm about to recommend a fanfic which crosses over two of Anne McCaffrey's series. That is the Dragonriders of Pern and the Brainships saga. (A crossover Ive long felt would be easily doable). And the fact that it involves one of my favorite brainship and partner teams is a plus. So I'm recommending Dragonship by Thomas Mc.

Started reading this, that the author spelled 'mafia' as 'mafiya' isn't a good sign.  I hope it hold together.
Edit: And Dudley now has magic too.  Does this story start picking up later?  As is, it just seems like the whole Roanpur thing was just a cameo, and a way of explaining why Harry is happier, and knows generic martial arts.

remember, they're talking about the Russian mob, not the Italian mob, 'mafiya' may be the correct spelling.

there are other differences, such as the fact they dealt with the troll on Holloween using some muggle firepower sent along by Petunia's employer. Harry (and Dudley) have a decidely different outlook on things which alters their reactions to events.

It supposedly becomes more relevant in later chapters. The author posted a teaser on the CaerAzkaban ML regarding a Death Eater team visiting Roanapur while Harry and Dudley are on holiday.

It... does not go well for the DE's.
ETA: And, yes, 'mafiya' is correct when speaking of the Russian mob. 'Mafia' is Italian.

eh. it's the same word... it just so happens that in russian, the letters used are M-A-F-I-YA (em-ah-fi-ee-ya)... it's like complaining about the spelling of 'colour' or 'harbour' or 'gaol' Smile

short, sweet, girly, yet somehow amusing. Fluff.

ffn id 2366263 - 4 out of 5 DADA Professors Reccomend...

Harry writes an essay on what he's learned in DADA over the years, but has no idea of the repercussions it will cause... started before Hair Brained Plan and trending towards derailment... to the point that the Weasley twins are looking like solid contenders for a Professorship or two, because they could at least be trusted to not intend lasting harm to any of the students.

Castle Terribel

http://castleterribel.blogspot.com/

Can't really give a quick summary because well... it's freaking huge. But essentially focuses on a family of 'Dark Lords' that are not all that dark at all. Lots of humor, but not so much that the serious bits feel out of place.

It reads a little bit like Pratchett in some ways, but with less irrelevance and deeper characterization.

Is it anything like The Dark Lord of Derkholm?

Possibly a bit, but not very. It's more a case where there is no particular correlation between "Inhabitant of the Land of Light" or "Inhabitant of the Land of Darkness" and Good or Evil, but a lot of people believe there is. The Lands of Darkness tends to be a bit more chaotic though.
