New Fic Recommendations vs. MechaGodzilla II

Huh. That story has some.... interesting tags. One Piece I'm ambivalent about. But Earthdawn? That should be interesting.

As I recall, there was a chapter that focused on the K12 + sensei talking about the world they lived in which many crossover elements popped up, including One Piece, Avatar, and others. That was the last chapter of the 'old' version and I believe the author got blasted for taking it so very... off topic? for the story.

My God... Is it strange to say that it read almost like crack... except that it ISN'T!? Also, I like this version of Anko. She's a total sweetheart under that mildly psychotic outer shell.

Yeah, but most of them are just random background chatter so far.

That chapter also had shout-outs to a number of other fanfictions which turned it from "necessarily messy" to "train wreck".  However, this is a good start for the rewrite.

No, I don't believe the world has gone mad.  In order for it to go mad it would need to have been sane at some point.

I'm recommending a translated wuxia story called "Coiling Dragon". Lately the translator, Ren, has gotten a really good pace on. Here's the link:

http://www.wuxiaworld.com/cdindex-html/

Linley is a young noble of a declining clan. He has large aspirations and wants to save his clan. Linley's journey begins with an accident when he discovers a ring. He took a liking to this ring with a dragon coiling around its entirety. Upon being injured during a battle between two powerful fighters he discovers that his ring is not what he thought it was and possesses powers beyond his imagination.

This is a Chinese Wuxia novel. This means it is a story about martial arts at its heart.

Oh, that is going on my watch list, bigtime.

This isn't exactly "new fic", but this seems the best place to mention:

I've started doing a "Where I Read" for the To LOVE-Ru manga over on RPG.net.

(This does not mean my Rorona LP is on hold, this just has entirely different requirements meaning I probably wouldn't be doing any of it anyway in the time I'm using on this.)

My Worm SI is Emma and Madison's therapist.

For those who follow the work of The Grum, I just noticed that he posted a bunch of new updates to his website a bit less than two months ago.
He's been posting almost daily over on SV - writing an alternate Taylor cross with one of his own story verses - Worm/Heromaker Heromakers Legacy

Hm. This isn't really a recommendation yet, as I haven't read the entire thing yet, but I just stumbled on this: Deborah Goldsmith, who wrote Genma's Daughter and its sequels, and who's been stuck on the fourth story in that series for years, posted an entire story of 53 chapters in less than a week at the end of December. The story is called Fictitious Persons. The description reads, "A little girl is found unconscious by the side of a country road in Delaware. When she wakes in the hospital the next morning, she has an impossible story to tell." And it's a Superman story, possibly a crossover. The first chapter is well written, and I'm going to keep reading; I just wanted to let people know that Deborah Goldsmith was writing again.

Edit: markup fix

Again and Again and Again Once More, a Persona 4/3 fiction that deals with some fairly interesting concepts of metaphysics and philosophy. I found it fascinating as hell.

RE: Fictitious Persons. I read through the whole thing yesterday and will happily give it a glowing recommendation if you happen to be in the mood for a good Superman story. Big Grin

It's been years since I read Genma's Daughter, and my taste wasn't all that developed then, so I wasn't really sure what to expect from Fictitious Persons.

But damn, that lady can write. I'm on chapter 13, and this is better-written than plenty of more popular fics. It also reminds me of the best thing about fan fiction for popular superheroes -- you get to choose the details however you want, as long as you get the broad strokes right. See also: Veritas.

Uncle Quetin's Spy: An interesting Potter - Buffy crossover featuring none of the Sunnydale gang but instead some characters on the BtVS side who tend to be overlooked. It may turn out to be unkind to some of the HP characters, but it is too soon to say for sure.

Tony Spark"Avengers/Iron Man
cross with RotG. Tony Stark died at 20, 1957 protecting his parents from
the electrical discharge of a reactor exploding. He wakes, remembers,
and when the Moon whispers to him, Tony Spark, he frowns. "How about
no." Where Tony is the spirit of innovation and won't let a thing like
death and not being able to be seen or heard or felt hold him back from
his life"
As the blurb says, a truly interesting little story where Tony doesn't let a little thing like a fatal electrocution accident hold him back from life.

Brockton Bay's Gamer. A fusion between Worm and The Gamer. Three chapters so far and it is fairly well written:
Quote:In a world of magic and martial arts, Han Jee-Han was The Gamer, a person of potentially unlimited magical talent. In Earth Bet, he's 'just' a parahuman. In Brockton Bay, he has the potential to change the course of events - though not necessarily for the better.

Anyone who likes HFY (Humanity, F&%K Yeah), has probably already heard of the Jenkinsverse.

For everyone else, it's pretty good:

I have to admit a little bias as I know the author elsewhere online, but:
Like a Flower Growing In Darkness (Darcy Lewis/Bruce Wayne, Soulmates, playing off the ship Darcy with someone unlikely trope)
Quote:Darcy Lewis worked for SHIELD. Darcy Lewis mainly worked for Jane
Foster, who worked for SHIELD. Usually it wasn't all that exciting,
except when it really, really was.

Tonight it wasn't. Tonight there was a dinner, and people were giving
Jane lots of money to do science things. Darcy didn't follow all of it,
but she was rocking the buffet shrimp platter.

A man reached out to grab the last shrimp.

Darcy said, absently, "I have done terrible things to men for a lot
less, dude," and grabbed it as he was distracted. It was delicious.

It does not take long for each to discover the other does not have a normal life.

A series that I can't recall being recc'ed or not. In either case, there's some recent additions so it should be fair for that.
