Robotech live action?

Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire will produce and may star in a film based on the classic SF anime Robotech, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It's doable...are they talking about just the SDF Macross part of the story? Planning it as a trology? McGuire as Rick Hunter?

On a tangent, there are apparently serious plans afoot for a Dragonball Z live action, to be filmed in Montreal.
