April Foolishness
April Foolishness

Spotted on a few RPG-company websites:

http://www.sjgames.com/ill/]Steve Jackson Games reports that they're being purchased by Atlas Games.
http://www.atlas-games.com/]Atlas Games reports that they're being purchased by Ronin Arts.
http://www.roninarts.com/]Ronin Arts reports that they're being purchased by Steve Jackson Games.

Not a bad start to the Foolishness, but there has to be something better out there.

(I'm not bothering this year. Nothing I can think of tops http://groups.google.ca/group/rec.arts. ... 2fabba2040]my 2003 Follishness. (For context, that was when "Freedom Fries" first appeared...))

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/04/01 ... wikipedia/]Jimmy Wales resigns from Wikipedia

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/04/01 ... explosion/]Teacher's head explodes due to Wi-Fi, mobe radiation

Oh, and http://www.gripe2ed.com/scoop/story/2008/4/1/0111/99983]Ed Foster's Gripelog has one, too.

That visual sounds thing actually sounds kind of cool....

Now, the highly dubious web game Kingdom of Loathing has changed it's name to Kingdom of Salad. Most if not all
pictures have been replaced with bowls of salad, random words have been replaced with "salad", and hit locations have been replaced with salad
ingredients.

I'm not sure I want to know what it means to "drop your curdflinger on your cherry tomato".

Check GRR Martin's livejournal blog for how he will take a page from Heinlein and just crosses his best series as the ending of A Song and Ice and Fire.

Ah... for any of you wcbb fans out there (or maybe I'm the only one ^_^), beknighted has the usual AF posting, this one as news from Indianopolis. And it
starts out so intriguing as well. Tongue

Indianapolis, April 1 (AF) - At a press conference late Monday, the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I Women's Basketball Committee
announced that the NCAA has adopted a new process for selecting and seeding its annual national championship tournament. This process removes the
responsibility for selection and seeding from the committee and creates a new tournament subcommittee that is responsible for all matters related to the
operation of the tournament.

Last year's was just as good if the not better AF posting of news from Cleveland:

Cleveland, April 1 (AF) - The NCAA and the Women's Basketball Officiating Consortium announced new assignments for game officials in Tuesday's
women's Division I national basketball championship game today, replacing the previously-assigned officials with a new group who had not previously
officiated in this year's NCAA tournament. The original crew, Sally Bell, Dennis DeMayo and Dee Kantner, will be replaced by University of Connecticut
coach Geno Auriemma, Maryland coach Brenda Frese and Baylor coach Kim Mulkey.
