May I just say, that you are an evil, utterly evil man, Bob? I nearly snarfed Mountain Dew over my keyboard when I saw that. For real. No kidding.

Thenkyew.
I wish I could remember where I heard that. It has a kinda "Tick"-like feek to it, but my quotefile has no attribution.

I figured that had to have come from The Tick, myself.
Just because I'm thoroughly detail obsessive sometimes, I've reloaded the page numuous times and here's all I've gotten so far.

Yes, it was. Hmm. You got almost all of them; here're the rest:

(I might take suggestions for additions, if they seem more or less appropriate. Make such suggestions over in the Website forum, please. In fact, I'll move this thread over there, as it belongs there to begin with.)

You know, given all of them so far, I'm surprised you didn't add THE perenial rabbit quote:
"I KNEW I should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque"
I mean, given the way Doug seems to consider Bugs as his totem ALA shadowrun... to me it would be a slam dunk for it to be in there..."I was an Otaku before those kids came along and changed the meaning of the word."

LOL! You're right, of course. I just added it now. (Or rather, I entered it into the textbox on the webpage where I manage this script. I'm leaving it open to add a few more as I think of them.)

Ya know, I really like that one... Where did you find it, and if it's original my I use it for myself?
Thanks!

While Bard J provided this quote, I already had it in my quotefile and just hadn't considered it for the rotating text. I first heard it uttered by the rather strange monologuist Brother Theodore on Saturday Night Live something like 20 years ago. (Brother Theodore is also known simply as "Theodore", under which name he performed the voice of Gollum in the Rankin-Bass version of The Hobbit.)

I'm glad you knew it, because I found it under "unknown" in someone's quote file.
May I say, you have an excellent memory, Bob.

It's really a combination of a trick memory (partial eidetic), a writer's notebook that I've maintained since 1981, and the quotefile I've kept since 1992 or thereabouts. And it's entirely possible, btw, that the quote might have come from my collection; I've shared a couple copies of my quotefile with various people over the years and they're sure to have gotten around -- some of my own original quotes can even be found in the "hidden writing" on the cover of GURPS Illuminati!

heh.
Personally, I like the fact you cribed that quote from wazziz name (one of the Illogics from UF's SoS)"I was an Otaku before those kids came along and changed the meaning of the word."

Well, yeah. But then again, sometime's that's Doug's attitude.
(Although, as my mental construction of the plot for the Borribles Step progresses, it appears that you will -- someday -- get to see Doug acting as a duly authorized agent of the UN. Not the UN of his homeworld, of course, but a UN. And then he'll be the keeper and enforcer of the rules...)

Added a new one a couple days ago, btw. I won't make you guess, or slam the page for it to come up. In tribute to the upcoming Hulk movie (who saw the commercial during the Super Bow?):

I noticed that the quotes no longer rotate...
Did hosted scripts finally go Tango Uniform the way we were all expecting back in those last days before the message board moved?"I was an Otaku before those kids came along and changed the meaning of the word."

Okay, dunno how that happened, but apparently the last time I updated the page I used a copy that had the rotating quote code commented out and the static subhead in place. I've put an updated copy up and made sure it rotates now.
Thanks for the catch, StarRanger!

Look 4 or 5 messages up. I added it on 1/27/03 and let folks know what it was so they didn't hammer the server looking for it.
