"In 1901, twenty-one year old college student Helen Keller, with the aid of a fantastical device invented
by her friend and mentor Alexander Graham Bell, regains her sight and hearing as well as near super-human strength and agility. Helen is enlisted by the Secret
Service to protect President William McKinley, who has been targeted for assassination by anarchists."

I would totally buy it.
Edit: still not used to Yuku. urgh. Anyway, additional links to cleaner pages:
http://superpunch.blogspot.com/2008/02/ ... iller.html
http://lohcacb.blogspot.com/2008/02/this-just-in.html
And a more detailed summary.
Blind and deaf since contracting a fever at the age of two, Helen was
eventually taught to communicate by Anne Sullivan. She was accepted to Radcliffe University (now a part of Harvard) in 1900. When we pick up our story, Helen
is a sophomore in college, enjoying the rigors of University life and her budding fame as a lecturer and author.
What the public doesn't know is that she has secretly agreed to test a device developed by her lifelong friend and mentor
Alexander Graham Bell, which allows the blind and deaf to see and hear. The device is a success, however along with restoring Helen's lost senses, when the
device is active she is endowed with superhuman strength and agility. In addition, she can see into a man's soul and determine if he intends to commit
violence. When her abilities come to the attention of the secret service, Helen is enlisted by the Secret Service to protect President McKinley from
assassination by Anarchists. Fearless and patriotic, Helen quickly signs on for the mission.
But the true danger may come from within Helen herself. The black secret of the Omnicle is while it does grant Helen with
amazing powers, it also increases her rage and violent tendencies. If unchecked, Helen could become a danger to those around her. Her struggle to maintain
control is at the heart of her journey. With or without her enhanced powers, Helen is an amazing young woman, beautiful, intelligent, brave and funny.

| Evangelion Codec Help? |

So I downloaded a sub of Rebuild of Evangelion 01 here (search for
evangelion_rebuild) and ran into problems almost immediately.
It seems that the subtitles are designed to be read using Windows Media Player, but I don't have whatever codec would make this one work and also have no
clue as to how to figure out which one to get. (I thought I was up to date, but it would appear otherwise.) It'll play under VLC Media Player, but the
subs are all wonky and in many cases completely illegible -- black text on black background, yay.
Can anyone assist with this conundrum? ^.^

| On translating honorifics... or not. |

Over in the http://drunkardswalkforums.yuku.com/topic/3765]Persona 3 thread...
Ayiekie Wrote:Even if you happen to know what they mean, most people who say they do don't. Therefore, they're not translated at all in the sense of conveying the
original meaning - and for regular people who would like an actual English translation in their English game, even more so.
However, this isn't really what this thread is about, so I'd rather not continue the digression on an off-hand comment.
So, here's someplace for it to be on-topic.
Anyway. You're probably right about most people not understanding how to use them properly. (I've probably done my part to make things worse in the past, having some characters who deliberately use ones that wouldn't be considered appropriate. '.' )
On the other hand, I think "interpretation" might be open to argument. Certainly there's subtleities that most people will probably miss out on; I know I continue to run into new things. But getting some of the information is better than getting none of it, and most if not all of them entirely lack useful translations. Or, to put it another way, I consider translations that strip honorifics to be unprofessional. Not necessarily sloppy, but I don't approve of someone doing extra work to hinder my understanding.
For the specific case of Persona 3, since it seems to be generally considered a "niche" game, I think it likely that most of the people who will play it will at least have a basic understanding of the honorifics, and will probably appreciate them. I've never even seen any threads complaining about them on the gamefaqs board for the game, and people on gamefaqs will complain about everything that is. (Even Fuuka Yamagishi's voice! >,> )

If any of you see me come can go quickly, or leave suddenly it is probable me having issues with connection. What seems to be the problem, the game runs
regularly if started after a reboot, but once I change zone pink skyrockets to 2000-3000, and refused to budge until another reboot. Until I can battle this
out with the computer and/or support staff I will probably be out of action. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.
