On November 6, 2016, Trump spokesperson Scottie Nell Hughes was on CNN, and mentioned that one of Jay-Z's music videos "starts with a crowd throwing mazel tov cocktails at the police in this very much anti-police message."

Yes, that is a rather embarrassing mondegreen... but don't say nothing ever comes of mondegreens.

So, since the last election, I moved one county over. So, not far as these things go, but I wasn't sure if I was going to be in the same districts for the US legislature or not. So I went looking for sample ballots.

They weren't hard to find for my current location. (Easier than for my old one, in fact.) Turns out I'm in the same ones for the national stuff. Okay.

But as for the local elections... well, I'd gone digging through the more detailed election results for Iowa in 2012, and noticed a whole lot of the elections for state offices were uncontested. Which is the case this year for three out of five here.

And then there's the 'nonpartisan offices'*. There's a "vote for no more than two" with two names. "No more than four" with four. But the most dramatic would have to be the one for "Soil and Water Conservation District". Vote for no more than three... with one name listed. I'm gonna have to look that one up, I want to know if there'll be a whole bunch of names that get one vote listed.

*I have no idea how nonpartisan they actually are.

The thing is, I'm in a not the most densely populated county (I think) of a not the most densely populated state. So I don't know what of several possible things to put this down to. A lack of interest in these positions? Areas where one party has an overwhelming advantage that no one is interested in challenging? Something else?

So, is your ballot full of holes? And if so, why do you think that is?

Alright, I feel like the plotting and planning is running a bit slow, so I guess maybe we should figure out a little more what's gonna happen in the second arc before we can sort out what happens in the first arc.
Here's the basic idea: the First Arc culminates with most of the major metropolitans on Earth being turned into Unreal Estate in orbit over the planet - especially ones that are major ports (air or sea) and home to major military installations (such as San Diego or San Antonio).  This will be the doing of some insane person that feels that Earth needs to be ready for 'the invasion' or some other BS.

I'm open to suggestions who it is and what their motivations may be, but I wouldn't be at all offended if it was Heinz Doofenschmirtz.  

*Ahem*  That's more for Arc 1, and to set the stage here.

I had the idea that once things move into orbit, that other stuff starts showing up.  Most concerning would be the SDF-1 Macross in a stand-off with Commander Breetai's fleet.

Thoughts?

Bloodfox64 made a comment about having a wish list up so that people can request specific things like certain characters, macguffins, vehicles... even entire places and settings.
Right off the top of his head, he wanted the UNSC ship, The Pillar of Autumn... along with all the rest of the SPARTAN II's and such that were supposed to be part of Operation Red Flag.  :p

Also, how Einstein from Cowboy Bebop would get along with Zwei from RWBY.

So, anyone got anything else?  Bear in mind, this is gonna be the catch-all thread for ideas that you don't feel ready or able to take on yourself, but would love to see in the story.

It's one of the new anime based on the light novel of the same name. It shares similar ideas with  Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Mahou shojou genre, Highlander style.
So far the deconstructions I see are:
That magical girls are pure, righteous and beautiful. Check
That magical girls must be middle school - high school age range (Do the exceptions make them magical women? Or is it part of the genre? I mean look at Sailor Pluto)
The cute magical animal wants to help you. Fav is definitely Kubey 2.0
Your magical girl transformation makes you female. No matter what sex you started with. Wait..Starlights. Never mind.
So far the ground rules are being explained in Ep 3. You are a magical girl. You are in a contest not be the last to earn magical candies in the real world.You earn magical candies by doing deeds (they don't say whether good or bad). The low magical girl on the totem pole loses her right to become one. Along with her life. Quitting also has the same end result. So now I'm curious. What's the end game and Fav's reason for this?
