History repeating

The IRS is after the mayor of London (yes, the one in England) to pay US taxes. Maybe he should start a movement to declare independence from the American Empire in protest over taxation without representation.

  Well, so much for STO.
Posted by: Logan Darklighter - 11-18-2014, 05:59 PM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (13)

Check out the following graphic. I want to know from anyone still playing STO - is this accurate?
Because Jesus Haploid Christ...
I'd been away for awhile (couple of months) and was holding off on playing until all the various bugs would be worked out and patches for stuff breaking would be done. It always happens that way and I didn't want to get frustrated.
But now I think I'm just not going to be coming back, period. Goodbye STO. It was fun while it lasted.

  Supporting Cast books?
Posted by: Mamorien - 11-18-2014, 06:46 AM - Forum: IST 25 Development - Replies (8)

It seems the obvious question. Is that how we're going to do characters? Are we going to do characters? Should the books be organized by era, theme, or both? (To the list of PDFs I would buy the hell out of, add a Weird War II supporting cast series on wartime supers.) The Deadly Dozen, the Harvey Banks "Appreciation" Society, the Supertemps All-Stars... the possibilities, as P.R. Honeycomb said, are fructifying.

Word on the FFML is that Jim Bader, prolific and long-time-popular writer of Ranma 1/2 fanfiction, passed away this morning.

  Great Old Games sale
Posted by: nemonowan - 11-17-2014, 10:55 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

Hi,Great Old Games (www.gog.com) has been having a big discount sale these last days, with new offers every day.
Today they put all of their packs on sale. For the next 18 hours you can get some very good deals on old and not-so-old series, modified to work with no DRM and money-back guarantee if they don't work. And most other individual games are also (but less) discounted.
For instance, all ten D&D RPGs from Baldur's Gate to Neverwinter Nights 2 are on sale for 20 bucks, or the threee Telltale Sam & Max games for 10 bucks.

  Big Hero 6
Posted by: Rev Dark - 11-17-2014, 12:43 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

Just back from taking the Darkling to Big Hero 6.
Two rocket-thumbs way up - this is a great flick; it carries some solid emotional heft (but won't kick your feels up to neck level the way that UP did.); but never, ever, forgets to be fun.  Great sets and designs and a genuine love of the genre and all its influences.  Stay for the traditional Marvel clip at the end.  Multiple anime tributes slide their way in as well.  The first act may well be one of the best bits of film making out there - nearly beat perfect.  The second act could use a little stretching; but other than that, excellent.
SPOILERSNo, not giving away any spoilers here -just fucking with you.

--------------------It is my sad duty to inform you that Glen A. Larson, the father of Battlestar Galactica, The Fall Guy, Buck Rogers, Knight Rider, and so many other memorable worlds imagined and rendered in the 80's has passed away today.
The world has lost a guiding light who inspired it and a true visionary whose passion for life, freedom, and family will continue to live on.
Despite some bumps in the road, Glen was one of my dearest friends and one of the most generous men in the "industry" I had the pleasure of knowing. He loved his fans just like he loved his creations and his family. Without his courage and determination, we as a fandom would not exist. He truly was one man who made a difference.
An official obituary/write up will come soon from his dearest son and my friend James.
Glen A. Larson, 1937-2014

So many memories. Some of the best, most fun TV shows ever. Rest in Peace, Mr. Larsen.

This guy is awesome. And yes - totally agreed - as said near the end of the video - the use he's put the car to makes him a real hero!
