| [RFC] Swordfish II class Mono Racer |

}}
A former Boskonian fighter design based off the Swordfish II Mono Racer of Cowboy Bebop fame. Designed as a counter to the Fen's F-EZig with the fire power to even be a threat to larger ships. The first prototype and blueprints where captured from a 'daneside Boskonian base.
Following the canon weapon setup besides the plasma cannon which was replaced with a railgun. Mounting four internal machinegun/coilguns located in sealed bays within the nose and one turret mounted slow firing 30mm railgunA large number of orders leave off the railgun in favor of ether a streamline hull or a different attachment. attached to the ventral side of the fuselage for anti-armor work. Most of the spacecraft is built rugged and only the cockpit capulse is presurized.
The design retains the 'spaceship in a spaceship' of the Cowboy Bebop version with the cockpit pod being it's own jetisonable gravity drive powered, if unarmed, capsule. The stock life support is good for two days avarage for the complete craft. While the cockpit capulse has half-a-day worth of built in life support system.
The biggest change happens to be how the wings fold for storage. Instead of folding up and off centered. They fold back along the body much like the 'dane US Navy's E-2C Hawkeye 2000. Leaving the cockpit capsule locking ring and hatch operable even when stored.
One of the drawbacks of the design is it's expense compared to the much cheaper [[F-EZig]. The two have even been compared to the difference between a jeep and a tank.
Currently both the 'civilian' and 'military' are being producted by **WHITENOISE** as a Build-to-Order item.
== Civilian Mono Racer ==
The civilian version forgoes the weapon layout all together. Replacing the turret mount with a streamline hull and larger engine. Giving it a higher speed while retaining the armor setup to protect against micrometeorites. The biggest difference is the instrument setup, the civilian version has been streamlined for racing over everything else. Otherwise it retains a lot of the same parts as a stock military version baring after market mods.
Drive Rating: 0.115c
== The Mono Tow Truck ==
A military version that has had it's weapons completely removed. The machine guns and ammo bins in the nose have been replaced with a ducted thruster system using the gunports. Maneuvering thrusters mounted on the wingtips hardpoints. The ventral turret mount has been replaced with a modular telescoping grappling arm system. The Cockpit area has been up armored to better protect the pilot from stray debris or hostile fire.
The first one of these was built to quickly fill a request for a small armored combat salvage vehicle during the Boskonian war.The first official batch of ten turned up in Boskonian hands some of them with weapons reinstalled. Dakota has been known to go out of his way to kill any that show up.
Drive Rating: 0.10c
== Class Quirks ==
* ''Curse you F-EZig! CURSE YOU!'': The Swordfish II gains a minor boost to preformence when in the pressence of F-EZigs, but still not enough to catch one in a straight chase.
* ''Got a bounty?'': Playing the opening theme of the Big Shot show from Cowboy Bebop is required for starting the engines.
* ''I wanna go fast!'': The swordfish II remembers it's days of racing even if it's never seen a race and preforms best when the pilot has the throttle wide open.
* ''Hey look, a dime!'': The swordfish II is a S/VTOL craft capable of taking off or landing with very little runway. More then seemingly reasonable for a eight ton craft.
== Trivia ==
The turret ball can be replaced with storage, sensors, single drone of different types, paired 12.7mm machine/coilguns, or just left off all together.
Standard life support is good for two days of straight use.
The Swordfish II is actually two spacecraft in one. The cockpit is also it's own self contained capulse complete with a small gravity drive and half-a-day of life support.

Found a quote and thought that I does fit Fenspace very nicely...
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood,
divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the
vast and endless sea."

Since I know there's a noticeable population of FOSS proponents here... Version 3.5.0 of LibreOffice is available. Amongst other things, this version can import Visio documents. However, there's a fair amount of new code under the hood, so expect things to work differently than they did before.

Reykjavik Station
Base Hull: container based torus space station
Length: 175m in diameter
Height: 35m
Mass: about 2500 tons
Drive Type: WPT reactionless Thrusters
Drive Rating: station keeping only
Primary Manufacturer:
Whistler Dockyard Services
Owner: Tycho Brahe Institute for Interstellar Research
Flag of Record: Norway
Faction: 'Danelaw (private)
Launched: Mid 2018
Purpose: Reseach Station
Registry Number: W359-1
Primary Crew: 75 crew (mostly scientists)
5 Kerbals
Auxiliary Vehicles:
4x waved unarmed Strf90 (scientific vehicles)
Status: active
After the Frams successful mission to Wolf 359 the Tycho Brahe Institute had their hands on two of the most interesting places close to Earth and the chance to observe and try to understand not only one but two unique ecosystems in two very different environments with Muspellsheimr and Nifelheimr.
The only way to do long term observations and discoveries on both worlds was to establish a station in the double-planets baystation. Reykjavik Station was born. It was decided to draw on the experiences of the establishment of arctic and antarctic stations by the Nordic countries and the experience of Whistler Services for their low cost, high quality experiences with building space craft and the Institutes good experience with Whistler concerning the SS Fram.
Build on Cuno Station using existing container production lines and a basic torus design Reykjavik Station is designed to be highly modular and expandable with multiple more toruses around the central pillar.
Reykjavik Station is designed with high redundancy, utilizing four central Fusor reactors (each capable of supplying the station with 100% of the needed energy) and one backup Fusor per module, it is unlikely that a larger problem could destroy the station or make it unable to continue its work.
Four unarmed Swedish Strf90 IFV are the auxiliary vehicles of the station, providing protection against both planets environments.
Reykjavik Station was delivered into Wolf 359 in five parts by the Tyger Tyger.
Known Vehicle Quirks:
* 'Have you tried whacking it with a hammer?' Sometimes important systems (safe for life support) like to go offline and stay that way until someone hits the main controller with a hammer or another heavy object.
* 'C-c-cold...' Its impossible to get the internal temperature of the living quarters above 18 degreed Celsius.

I dunno. You tell me. Ripped from Girl Days by Robert Haynie:
Quote:First, because cosmic law won't LET a wizard rule the world-
something or someone always stops you before you can cast the last
rune, and then it's be cut down by the barbarian time, or be shot by
the dashing hero time, or get your butt kicked by some martial artist
whose name probably begins with R, ends with A, and is an
aquatransexual time. (This is called foreshadowing.)
Second, because even if you DID rule the world, the time it
would take to administer it would take time away from the arcane
studies that magi like so much.
And third, because in the honest opinion of most real mages,
it's a lot more gratifying to kick back with a sixpack and a cute
nature spirit, watch "The Witches of Eastwick" and poke fun at the
errors, and cuddle a bit.
On that last bit, I was like...

This song sounds like it'd be good at helping Doug rally a group in the middle of a fight.
Otherwise - We are Soldiers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_329_MuuJE
Quote:It's time to strap our boots on,
This is a perfect day to die,
Wipe the blood out of our eyes.
In this life there's no surrender,
There's nothing left for us to do,
Find the strength to see this through.
We are the ones who will never be broken
With our final breath, we'll fight to the death
We Are Soldiers! We Are Soldiers!
Whoa, Who-oh-oh-oa, Who-oh-ohhhhhhh-oh-oa
WE ARE SOLDIERS!
I stand here right beside you,
Tonight we're fighting for ours lives,
Let me hear your battlecry. Your Battlecry!
We are the ones who will never be broken
With our final breath, we'll fight to the death
We Are Soldiers! We Are Soldiers!
We are the ones who will not go unspoken(unspoken)
No we will not sleep, we are not sheep
We Are Soldiers! We Are Soldiers! Yeah!
We stand shoulder to shoulder
We stand shoulder to shoulder
We stand shoulder to shoulder
You can't erase us, you'll just have to face us!
We stand shoulder to shoulder!
We stand shoulder to shoulder!
We stand shoulder to shoulder!

| Mass Effect 3 and Origin |

I recently remembered that the Mass Effect 3 Demo was going to be released last month, so I did a bit of looking around. I am now faced with a bit of a dilemma. It should appear that EA is continuing it's trend, and making Mass Effect 3 require Origin to be installed and active in order to play. This has sparked no end to flame wars on the topic, with two hundred-some page threads on the Bioware forums accumulate and get locked. Since I have hope that this will not turn out to be quite as vitrolic a issue here, I'm interested in soliciting some opinions on Origin, hopefully from some people I know that use it. Most notably is the issue that Origin can and will scan your hard drive. EA insists just the Origin AppData directory ("reviewing filenames"), tinfoil-hats say the entire drive (everything from tracking your gameplay to spying on your messages to gay chatrooms).

I've been listening to Blue Oyster Cult a lot recently and it hasn't escaped my notice that most would fall under the heading of 'do not play, ever' for Doug.
Song: Black Blade
Reason why it's dangerous: It's about a demonic sword that takes control of it's wielder and destroys everything.
Song: Harvester of Eyes
Reason why it's dangerous: It's about a monster that kills people and eats their eyes.
Song: Old Gods Return
Reason why it's dangerous: Take a guess.
Song: E.T.I.
Reason why it's dangerous: "King in yellow / Queen in red" Anything that mentions the King in Yellow is best avoided.
Song: Don't Turn Your Back
Reason why it's dangerous: It could potentially result in everything trying to kill Doug ( "Don't turn your back / Danger surrounds you /Don't turn your back /To the dogs who hound you /Don't turn your back /Don't show your profile /You'll never know /When it's your turn to go")
The only song I've heard so far that might actually be useful is "I Am The Storm" but even that's risky;
You scorned the love that I gave you
You lied now nothing can save you
Blue skies are turning to grey
I know the games that you play
Winds of rage they start to build
Too much madness will lay you under
The cards you draw don't help at all
Hear the sound of approaching thunder
When you see the clouds blacken
Remember you've been warned
No shelter from my fierce winds
Because, I am the storm
You'll hear my echoes of anger
You'll fear the roar of my thunder
Nightmares, confusion will come true
Aces and eights are the fate that you drew
Lightning bolts become my swords
When I pull them from the sky
Run my gauntlet of slashing rain
You won't survive to testify
When you see the clouds blacken
Remember you've been warned
No shelter from my fierce winds
Because, I am the storm
