| The Dangers of Blue Oyster Cult |

I've been listening to Blue Oyster Cult a lot recently and it hasn't escaped my notice that most would fall under the heading of 'do not play, ever' for Doug.
Song: Black Blade
Reason why it's dangerous: It's about a demonic sword that takes control of it's wielder and destroys everything.
Song: Harvester of Eyes
Reason why it's dangerous: It's about a monster that kills people and eats their eyes.
Song: Old Gods Return
Reason why it's dangerous: Take a guess.
Song: E.T.I.
Reason why it's dangerous: "King in yellow / Queen in red" Anything that mentions the King in Yellow is best avoided.
Song: Don't Turn Your Back
Reason why it's dangerous: It could potentially result in everything trying to kill Doug ( "Don't turn your back / Danger surrounds you /Don't turn your back /To the dogs who hound you /Don't turn your back /Don't show your profile /You'll never know /When it's your turn to go")
The only song I've heard so far that might actually be useful is "I Am The Storm" but even that's risky;
You scorned the love that I gave you
You lied now nothing can save you
Blue skies are turning to grey
I know the games that you play
Winds of rage they start to build
Too much madness will lay you under
The cards you draw don't help at all
Hear the sound of approaching thunder
When you see the clouds blacken
Remember you've been warned
No shelter from my fierce winds
Because, I am the storm
You'll hear my echoes of anger
You'll fear the roar of my thunder
Nightmares, confusion will come true
Aces and eights are the fate that you drew
Lightning bolts become my swords
When I pull them from the sky
Run my gauntlet of slashing rain
You won't survive to testify
When you see the clouds blacken
Remember you've been warned
No shelter from my fierce winds
Because, I am the storm

Yeah, so I managed to crash 'fox 3.mumblemumble, and suddenly it no longer opens new browser windows when I start it again. Upgrading to 10.whatever doesn't help either... Seriously, WTF? Norton and Malwarebited can't find anything screwy on my system, and I killed the "restore last session" dialogue in favor of starting over fresh, but no joy. Jammit, I NEED at least three browser windows to organise the tabs I keep open all the time!

Magical Girl Rainbow Six, or "what if Tom Clancy wrote a maho-shojo sentai story?" They're usually colour-coded already, so "Rainbow" fits... (Blame Epsilon for this idea.)
I thought about whether this is a crossover that should or shouldn't be, then I realized: This is what Doug's going to turn the Sailor Senshi into.

Inspired by a website I read... and suggested to post it here by BA.
Quote:TITANIC hummed away, working along in it's own dumbly intelligent manner. Anika began...
“Jet, I was thinking. I’ve got these two virtual machines here, each one running a Linux install, on top of a hypervisor,”
“Yeah,” the cyber's eyebrow rose, before she took a gulp from a mug of teat.
“So, each one of those, as far as it’s concerned, is running on it’s own dedicated processor. It’s in it’s own self contained bubble running away, serving up data to other computers, unaware of the existance of the hypervisor or the computers it’s on. As far as it’s concerned, it’s the only computer in existance. As far as it can tell from testing within it’s bubble, this is true.”
“Yeah,”
“And inside each virtual machine, I spawn processes which can exist only in memory, they can never save their state to the disk. These processes run and interact with each other. They spawn and fork and die or occasionally become zombies or get swallowed by daemons.”
“Yeah,”
“And when the processes die, all the data they contain is lost forever, it just poofs away into the void, gone forever. Eventually, when I shut down the machine and delete it, all the data it contained is just erased. Irretrievably gone. As far as it’s concerned, it’s dead.”
“Yup,”
“Now, through the hypervisor, without the machine or any of the processes realising it, I can save the state of a process, and then immediately transfer that state and process to another virtual machine where it will continue running quite happily, even after the original machine has been killed”
“So?”
“But, as far as the process on the original machine was concerned, it just died and all it’s data was annihilated. It just went poof. But at the same time, it still exists. I can also go in to the protected physical memory the virtual machine is using, and alter it’s state manually, affecting the rules of the system the processes operate under, without them really noticing the change, or knowing where the changes came from..”
Heh,”
“And, I can even give processes a limited ability to access the protected parts of their own memory and alter themselves and their running environment, through the hypervisor by making them aware of it on some small level. Give them some small power to alter the rules at a local level.”
“Where are you going with this?”
“I was thinking. Maybe God might be some sort of hypervisor, and the concept of the immortal soul is him saving our data, and transferring it to another virtual machine, without our knowledge or ability to detech. Stuff like miracles and the like might be god playing around with the back end of the system, and the handwavium is what gives us the ability to tinker through the hypervisor, and violate the usual system constraints and alter the data as we see fit,”
“Eh?”
“So, effectively, we’re all living in a giant virtual machine,”
Jet finished her tea. “Yeah... I’m going to go. Class time”
Oh and...
"So, you waved an android to have the personality of Shinji Ikari.... then introduced him to End of Evangelion, That's just *cruel*"

The Register: Space: 1999 returning to TV?
I suppose it was only a matter of time. Let's hope they keep the good stories and jettison the silly SFX... but I expect to see those "staple gun" laser pistols, and something closely resembling Eagles but with a place to store fuel.

The last 2 years I was writting something weird and got it done and posted a short fic done up in a letters style idea I wanted to run with. Letters one and two deal with a sailor moon, ranma, and top gear crossover over. The story is all about one sailor Pluto writiing to one other talking the issues thay are having with thier scouts. since My pluto tends to get lost a lot...with who it is to say the least....i wrote letter number three as a review of other writers works from the point of veiw of pluto stumbling into that fic somehow and doug gets talked about in one case....
