The following koan posesses the Buddha nature:

Blue medium, green medium, red small. All erect and placed next to each other in order blue, green, red.

The following koan does not posess the Buddha nature:

Blue medium, green large, yellow medium. All erect and placed next to each other in order blue, green, yellow.

This weekend, the balloon goes up
Posted by: robkelk - 12-05-2009, 04:23 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

Actually, ten balloons go up in various locations in the United States at 10AM Eastern / 7AM Pacific Saturday. The first person or team to find them all wins $40,000.

This is your tax dollars at play - http://networkchallenge.darpa.mil/default.aspx]it's how DARPA is celebrating the Internet's 40th birthday.

I'm not in the 'States, so I'm not interested in this. Any of you folks south of the border want to get together and find the balloons?

(And, yes, they're red balloons. Just 10, though, not 99...)

You're Under Arrest - Full Throttle
Posted by: robkelk - 12-04-2009, 04:41 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (9)

Live-eviL has finally made it to episode 22.

And hell has finally frozen over - the longest-running subplot in the entire series (it started in the very first OAV episode) has been brought to a conclusion.

Now all that's left is the comedy-relief episode 23, and the hopes that (like Season 2) Full Throttle will get picked up and released professionally...

A gatesong and a "contingency" metasong

Both by Splashdown.

Elvis Sunday

What's that you say?

I've fallen into rewind and hit replay.

Under the maple shade, unafraid

Back on 317 Beckwith Street again.

Our only one crusade,

To build a fortress so we could hide away.

My home

Had to leave behind

Didn't like the change so I'd kick and cry

Never liked the changed, had to leave behind

'Cause that decision was never mine,

Never mine

I'll still kick and cry.

Yeah, I'm still kicking and crying, yeah

Guess I'm still kicking and crying when it comes to

Good-bye.

What's that you said?

I'm still poking around the neighbors' hedge

Under the window ledge, someone said,

"Hold her hand when you near the driveway's edge."

Our only one crusade,

We never did get to build our hideaway.

My home

Had to leave behind

Didn't like the change so I'd kick and cry

Never liked the changed, had to leave behind

'Cause that decision was never mine,

Never mine

I'll still kick and cry.

Yeah, I'm still kicking and crying, yeah

Guess I'm still kicking and crying when it comes to

Good-bye.

My home

Had to leave behind

Didn't like the change so I'd kick and cry

Never liked the changed, had to leave behind

'Cause that decision was never mine,

Never mine

I'll still kick and cry.

Yeah, I'm still kicking and crying, yeah

Guess I'm still kicking and crying when it comes to

Good-bye.

Pretty clearly a gatesong. The "children-moving-away" aspect would probably make it appropriate for the Sana-chan no Omocha step.

Thunder

... And if you lived in me

You'd think that I'm insane

I know I don't belong here

I push my limits over lines that I could not explain

For reasons that are never clear

I'm rushed and closing in on my demon's trail

Where all my promised thoughts lie waiting still unbroken

But anytime I trip my darker half refrains,

"I doubt you'll ever turn into some heroine"

Someday I must belong here

Sometimes I think so much I've missed that boat I've prayed

Would come untie these hands I fear

Still every hour's just another breath I take to stay awake

And all my promised thoughts lie waiting still unbroken

But anytime I trip my darker half refrains,

"I doubt you'll ever turn into some heroine"

Lightning has to fill the sky

Before I learn how to listen for the thunder in my head

I'm rushed and closing on my demon's trail

My wings have fallen out

And I am waiting for the power to unfold them

Lightning has to fill the sky

Before I learn how to listen for the thunder in my head

I'm rushed and closing on my demon's trail

My wings have fallen out

And I am waiting for the power to unfold

The whole "I suck right now, but pretty soon I'll be awesome" makes me think that this would delay the activation of another song. More
specifically, I figure it would work somewhat like the "contingency" spell from D&D: he specifies some condition under which the affected song will
trigger.

...it's a good, clever song, and I can't think of anything less broken for it to do.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY06IgyN_RM

If I remember correctly, Doug doesn't understand Latin, so the original "Libera me" being sung in the song won't have any effect. The rap,
however...

I'm thinking that the laws of physics, the guidelines of what is and isn't possible, become more like suggestions. With an act of will, anybody inside
the AoE can 'do the impossible'; the more impossible whatever they try is, the more willpower is required.

Thanks.

  Shattered Horizon
Posted by: HoagieOfDoom - 12-03-2009, 03:18 AM - Forum: General Chatter - No Replies

Picked it today for $20 off of Steam. It's a zero-G shooter set in the mid-21st century after an explosion on the moon sets two groups (the International
Space Agency and the MMC, I can't remember what it stands for) against each other. A lot of fun, if disorienting at times, and very very pretty. It's
multiplayer only, although considering the amount of backstory that's given during the loading screens the setting could be pretty sweet for a single
player game should Futuremark decide to do one. Sadly, it's DX10 only, so you need either Vista or Windows 7.
