Fate/Stay Night Movie Official Trailer Debuts
Posted by: OpMegs - 12-17-2009, 03:20 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (3)

Bad YouTube videos of camcorder footage of a trailer in Japan have been circulating for some time, but with about a month to go before the release(January
23rd), the first official trailer for Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works has shown up.

I'm intrigued to see how much they can fit in one movie. Admittedly, the anime compressed bits and pieces of all three routes into one season, but if they
skimp a little more on the day to day stuff and Nasu's strange obsession with extensive descriptions of Japanese food preparation, I think this has the
possibility to be quite awesome.

Karigurashi no Arrietty. (Warning: Sankaku Complex link,
at least mildly NSFW.)

Yes, that Arrietty.

Nifty.

  Avatar Reviews

I guess it's getting really good reviews. CNN.com ran a story about the world premiere in London a couple days ago, complete with video clips. That's
here. One guy who worked on it called it
""Titanic" meets "Terminator" or "Aliens"". (and no, it wasn't until relatively recently that I realized that
Sigourney Weaver was in it. I was more interested in Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana)

Upon watching the first few eps of the El Hazard OVAs...and finding myself inordinately looking at that bizarre slicked back hairstyle again and again...the
following quote came to mind.

"Good lord, is Katsuhito Jinnai what Brian J. Mason was like in high school?"

  Nanoha Sound Stage X: Translated
Posted by: OpMegs - 12-14-2009, 08:52 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

Not with professional voice actors, unfortunately, but there's a sizable group of translators at AnimeSuki working on it.

And they've posted the subtitled vocal tracks on YouTube

Watching subtitled audio CDs in Japanese is a bit odd, but given the sheer amount of plot in SSX, I figure most people would at least be interested. Especially
as it introduced a few plot elements later referenced in the ViViD and Nanoha Force mangas.

Another scanlated manga about high-school students doing "nothing", but this one's NC-17. Since it is NSFW, I'll just provide the URL and let
folks copy-and-paste it into their own browser address bars...

One chapter up so far. Funny stuff.

  Firefox Portable

I've recently started seeing those "we're not going to support your browser much longer" messages while browsing with Firefox Portable on a
jump drive. So I went over to Mozilla to download a more recent version -- and can't even find so much as a mention of this product. Did they do away with
Portable? Anyone know what's replaced it? (I'm not into being a crash-test dummy for Beta versions, btw)

Crazy luck of the draw in games
Posted by: ordnance11 - 12-13-2009, 02:00 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (17)

I played a WWII air combat game called check six. The mission was intercepting a squadron of unescorted B-17's. I took my fighter on a head on pass on the
lead B-17 and missed. did an Immehlman diving loop and then fired a burst on the tail end charlie. Only got one hit. On the bomb bay. Which blew up the B-17.
Whose debris caused a whole series of sympathetic detonations to the neighboring B-17's. When the smoke was cleared, 5 out of 7 initial B-17's blew up
and the other 2 had to turn back due to severe damage. Instant ace!

We had a good laugh after the game..especially since it was the first time I played it. Crazy luck of the draw.
