  Someone has problems with Qwest?
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 12-10-2009, 06:49 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

Has anyone posted any messages here complaining about service problems with Qwest? I just got a request for board access from someone claiming to be Qwest
customer support who wants to address complaints allegedly posted here. I've shot back a note asking for just which threads he's referring to, but I
thought I'd ask the community as a whole as well.

  A Truly Exhilerating Feeling

...is being in a class you figure you'll be lucky to pass and then finding out you got an A in it.

Now if only I could get myself to concentrate on the paper I need to write for another class.

  Negima / Nanoha crossover idea

Here's the bit that seemed to catch a bit of interest:

Mahora Girls' Jr. High Class 3-A gets a new transfer student for the year when it starts: #30 Hayate Yagami. (Ayaka and Zazie get pushed down 1)

Apparently certain off-world organizations would like to extend an olive branch to the existing (and newly discovered) magic tradition on this world, and
this idea is the one that got sold. (The headmaster of Mahora felt that Yagami's command experience could be useful...)

Shouldn't this be in "Crossovers that Should Be"?
Yes. Yes it should.

I've thought idly about this some. I picked Hayate because she brings something a bit different to the class--someone with formal military experience, and
a lot of power, but not much actual combat experience. (Bringing in pretty much any other of the mains would quickly sideline the Negima crew. Also,
her last name jostled the class roster the least. ^^;

I generally like the concept, but it's rather hard to figure out where she'd fit into the various story arcs. On one hand, it would be easy to add her
as a 'spy,' observing without much plot-changing interaction. It's safe, but rather boring. The 'almost' reveals would get old quick, I
think.

The other idea was for Hayate to jump in feet first:

Hayate arrives on scene between the duel between Negi and Eva in her Armor from right after Asuna completes her provisional Pactio, and spends a bit of time
as an observer (since it's more of a duel, than a battle for survival). (The begs the question: what was she doing when Negi was figuring it out?) She
flies in to save Eva as the vampire's powers are failing, a bit before Negi does himself. This puts her in a bit of suspicion in the eyes of Negi and
Asuna, so Hayate makes a Pactio then and there (as a gesture of her loyalties), and is involved in the middle of things from there out. Seems more interesting
that way, but more complex to manange.

What do you guys think?

Mysterious spiral of blue light hovers over Norway

Story, spectacular photos, and frankly unimpressive video http://drunkardswalkforums.yuku.com/forum/newtopic/id/1]here.  No one knows what this was, and the only official guess is a secret Russian missile test gone wonky.  I have my doubts that a missile could do this, at least not for the two-minute-plus time span reported, but your guess is as good as mine as to what it could otherwise have been.

  Problems getting to Yuku?
Posted by: jpub - 12-09-2009, 05:58 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

Is anyone else having problems getting to this board or Yuku in general? My local Shaw DNS (also openDNS, and qwest's DNS) can't seem to resolve it.

I had to go alternate ISPs/proxies to get to it.

  Looking For Suggestions...
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 12-09-2009, 05:00 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (23)

My sister-in-law suggested we get our nephews anime for Christmas because they enjoy it so much when we share our collection with them. What we're going
to do is get each one an entire series, in a box set. (And yes, Rob, the RightStuf sale will probably be a great help.) Anyway, we've got some ideas, and
we've eliminated the stuff we've already shown them (Big O, ROD, Negima, Haruhi, a few other things), but mostly we've been able to think of stuff
for Tom, who's going to be 15. Chris, who's going on 11, is a little harder, as our viewing habits don't normally include stuff that would be more
suitable for him.

So basically, we're soliciting suggestions, mainly for Chris, but we're open to ideas for Tom. If folks would help, we'd be very grateful.
Thanks!

The days tech that will blow your mind......

That I found on last Sunday's Top Gear

It's in the first minute and a bit.

If you think it's the all-round CCTV cameras & control suite which is the mind blower, you're wrong. It's the screen itself which I concider
the mind blower. Everything else is just incidental, unless your into high-performance SUVs, then it's not.
