Despite the song being about breaking up and moving away, I got the idea that the power Doug could potentially get from this song would be that for the
duration of the song his brain comes up with the most evil and diabolical plans... for a prank war. Not that he really needs this song to help with that, but
sometimes one needs that extra touch to personalize things. Tongue

Linda Ronstadt - "You're no good"

Feeling better now that we're through

Feeling better 'cause I'm over you

I learned my lesson, it left a scar

Now I see how you really are

You're no good

You're no good

You're no good

Baby you're no good

I'm gonna say it again

You're no good

You're no good

You're no good

Baby you're no good

I broke a heart that's gentle and true

Well I broke a heart over someone like you

I'll beg his forgiveness on bended knee

I wouldn't blame him if he said to me

You're no good

You're no good

You're no good

Baby you're no good

I'm gonna say it again

You're no good

You're no good

You're no good

Baby you're no good

I'm telling you now baby and I'm going my way

Forget about you baby 'cause I'm leaving to stay

You're no good

You're no good

You're no good

Baby you're no good

I'm gonna say it again

You're no good

You're no good

You're no good

Baby you're no good

Oh, oh no

You're no good

You're no good

You're no good

Baby you're no good

So, this thread has a couple core things, since my main tech consultants post here anyway.

My aging dinosaur of a computer has about had it as far as being able to run the New Hawtness of games. It seems to be the theme to upgrade these days, so I
figure I can duck into the collective wellspring of experience for tips.

My current machine is a Frankengraded Pavilion a706n, with the upgrades being a nVidia 6200
graphics card, a CD/DVD burner drive, and 2 gigs of RAM.

This is, as of 2009, a 5 year old box and just not able to be enhanced anymore without replacing the motherboard entirely. So I need a new machine. I'm
fairly financially limited(my current job's "rather large" paycheck from Christmas madness amounts to $359 and change, and that's gonna be
slacking off now that the Christmas rush is down and they start cutting hours back, and that doesn't even factor in school and a planned move), so used is
pretty much my only option without bankrupting me.

On the plus side, I'm not a tech elitist, so being up to, say, Wire or Terrence's tech standards isn't a big deal. I'd settle for being able to
actually mount PCI-E graphics cards at all.(my current one has multiple PCI cards and an old AGP slot) Also, I just need a tower, really. I've got all the
relevant peripherals covered fairly handly.

On the second hand, I recently scored Mass Effect for the PC(which has yet to arrive in the mail) and a recheck of specifications notes that I'm missing
600 of the necessary GeForces to run it according to the *stated* minimums(nVidia GeForce 6800GT), however my current card supports Pixel Shader 3, which is
apparently the make or break necessary ability, so perhaps I could run it, like CoH, at lower performance settings and still have it operate properly? Or do I
just wait till post-upgrade to install it?

So, I'm basically a week away from a new TV - or I was.

Unfortunately, this morning I woke up to hearing interesting dripping noises from my ancient dishwasher, and discovered it was full of water. I managed to get
the water to drain, and then also discovered it was leaking a bit of water. Not a lot, but enough that I've more or less said 'that's it.' In
screwing with it, I ALSO find that the valve that controls its water intake is stuck open.

That means:

1) Have to call a plumber to replace the valve (and another, I think the one to my toilet is stuck too) which means anywhere from $100-200

2) Have to spend $400 on a new diswasher.

Oh well, I guess I have to wait another 4 months for a new TV. *sigh*

Why is it whenever I'm about to get a purchase on something nice, the universe has to break something on me?

Heard 'The Wall' on the radio and it occured to me that someone could make a MV for it using clips from the various Harry Potter movies (between Snape
and the majority of the Defense professors, got plenty of scenes of unpleasant teachers)

I however have no skill in such endevors. 8(

  some video card questions/help
Posted by: Unicorna - 01-02-2009, 04:38 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (14)

Okay, between bonus pay at work, christmas monies, overtime worked, and getting my taxes done in a couple weeks, I have some extra funds right now. I'm
hoping to upgrade my computer's video card and ram and am looking for ideas on what to get. Right now I have an ATI Radeon x600 and 1GB of ram. I'm
sure that you who play with me in CoX notice I take a bit to load, and I've got my graphics settings at one notch below 'recommended' at the
moment.

What I am looking for is enough to enable me to use the PC I have for a couple more years. The processor covers my needs and HDD space isn't an issue. I
want a video card that will let CoH look nice and enough ram to make it run as smoothly as possible. I'm also not necessarily looking for the top of the
line that's currently available... just something that'll work out well for a couple years.

So, any ideas or suggestions?
