AshlingWaltz, (author of Maverick Solutions, To Fuel the Guttering Flame, A Cuckoo Born in Iron, and Sentry Solutions) has started an 'Ideas' thread.
So far she has posted 2 chapters each of 4 different SI story ideas (2 very different DC ideas, 1 Star Wars, and now a Pirates of the Caribbean one)

Just came across this a couple weeks ago: Taylor and the Quest Board. A Worm AU where Taylor triggers with a "quest board" that offers her missions and rewards her with special abilities and powers when she completes them. Similar in many ways to a The Gamer crossover, without some of the things people find irritating, like instant dungeons. It's still in its early stages, but I think it's worth a look.

Fans of Solid_Shark's "Monochrome Duet" may enjoy their not-exactly-new other story, Oath of Rebellion.
It's a brilliantly AU take on Sword Art Online with airships, floating islands, and Alicization elements sprinkled liberally throughout. Let's welcome Pirate Captain Kirito, all!

Residual Hope by SimplyKaren is a BnHA fic that (at least at first) sets out along a path I haven't seen before at all, though it cites a couple others as imspiration. Official summary:
Quote:The Sludge Villain doesn't find Bakugo after escaping All Might, but some other random civilian. There's no series of explosions to draw All Might to the scene of the second attack. It's by pure luck that Izuku stumbles upon them. And Izuku does what he always has when he sees one person hurting another: inserts himself between the aggressor and victim. He finds this is significantly harder to do when one of the parties is a sentient slime.
I enjoyed the early parts quite a bit, and while it ended up getting a little too AO3 for me (ie, shippy and emo) by the late 50s it was still fun for a while, and if you have a higher tolerance for it it's likely enough the other half is of similar quality.

He kept editing and revising it, so while still a one-shot, it's now about 13k words in it's own thread.

Two for Battletech
First Coyote Games. Another Alt-Clan Invasion story from Drakensis. Some differences in Clan Coyote reshuffle the invading clans. But it's not called that because of that, it's called that because everyone's plans are failing in spectacular and hilarious fashion. It's not a butterfly that's hit the plot, it's a frigging roadrunner.

Threefold curse. Another SI fic. Except the SI. With the complication that the SI annoyed the ROB, and her new body is genetically descended from Amaris AND the Not-named Clan. And probably Forlough as well. With a unique (but not game-breaking) battlemech to make sure she attracts attention.

Got a couple for the OEX pile.
When Immortal Ascension Fails, Time Travel To Try Again
A thousand years ago, Lin was an ordinary American. Then they got reincarnated into a Xianxia harem novel as the protagonist's "girl next door".
She spent a thousand years cultivating and growing stronger and doing her best to avoid him and his shenanigans, only to have her Ascension to Immortality spoiled by his own attempt at it. So when she finds herself reincarnated back to her childhood, she decides to Take Steps to counter the idiocy he'd been up to.
Quote:“In your past life, your Daoist name was Bloodsword, but that’s the dumbest, most chuuni name ever so I’m vetoing it. Also, your destiny is oftentimes connected to your name, and since, I would rather you not repeat the mistakes you made in that life, it’s better to change it. So, in this life, you’ll be known as Spring of the Universe Zhenren... no, that title is too good for you at this stage...”
“What were you named?”
Startled by him finally speaking I said, “Fairy Lin.” It was my last name in my original life and I kept it so I wouldn’t forget the world and culture I came from.
“That’s...”
“Shut up. I know it’s plain. Whatever. Fine, I’ll call you Little Spring, for now, and you can grow into the other one as you age and cultivate.”
Memories of the Fall
Imagine the life of forest rangers in Xianxia's answer to Memetic Australia. Then add in political intrigue, a gold rush, a villain who's supposed to be dead, eldritch horrors from beyond time and space, more politics, colonialism, the general assholery of cultivators, lost worlds, millennia-old conspiracies, gods, demons, monsters, and more.
Quote:This is a story about two sisters, Jun Arai and Jun Sana, and their friends, Juni, Ling and Shu who make their living as members of the Hunter Bureau, an organisation dedicated to dealing with the terrifying flora and fauna endemic to their home Great World. When they get dragged into a grand scheme to unpick the ancient secrets entombed within one its foremost forbidden zones in their world, the Yin Eclipse Mountains, they must all try to survive the dark machinations, eldritch undercurrents and the echoes of a terrible conflict trying to re-emerge into an unsuspecting cosmos that had rather hoped it was done with that kind of thing a few eras hence.
So please come join Arai, Sana, Juni, Ling, Shu and the rest of my cast as they journey through strange lands, meet all kinds of unusual beings and unravel some of the power and glory of a land time tried very hard to forget.
I promise terrifying mushrooms, angry snakes, confused gods, even more confused cultivators and much, much more!

Through the Moonlit Void (Honkai Impact 3rd)
During young Kiana's life with Siegfried in Siberia, the former Herrscher of the Void awoke in her and briefly took over.
In canon, this lead Siegfried and Kiana to be split apart, not to meet for years, as Kiana's search for him would eventually take her to Nagazora and her fateful meeting with Raiden Mei.
Here, well, things ended up a bit differently.
Quote:Living with a Herrscher in her head was sort of like having a cat, the young girl named Kiana Kaslana found out. Or at least she assumed so, because she never did more than care for strays, but she certainly did have a Herrscher in her head.
Not that she particularly minded. After all, their arrangement could only help her achieve her goal.
Namely, becoming the new Queen of Honkai for humanity's sake.
No matter how much Sirin complained.
A complete reimagining of the author's earlier How To Raise Your Host, which featured Big Sister Head!Sirin.

A few years ago, the previous thread recommended "The Heroic Chronicles of a Young man" (Youjo Senki/My Hero Academia), in which YS's 'Salaryman' was born in MHA Japan rather than real Japan.
Since then, the author's promised non-canon side story has been written and is complete with eleven chapters.

Pro Hero Tenya Deguchiya dies in front of a speeding train because of a disgruntled former employee and meets Being X, with whom he does not get along. Being X reincarnates him as Tanya Degurechaff in a magical world on the cusp of WWI. Only this Tanya has decades of experience as a top ten pro hero and proceeds to leverage her training in ways that completely derail Youjo Senki canon.

So.
To Dance On Thin ice.
Honkai Impact 3rd, Wrong Genre Savvy SI.
Ana Schariac is an ordinary person who wakes up to find themselves inserted into the world of Honkai Impact 3rd.
A world she knows nothing about.
She promptly assumes she's been put into a generic Japanese harem anime, a la Infinite Stratos, and that she's intended to be one of the haremettes, and goes looking for the bland nobody protagonist so she can avoid him.
Needless to say she's completely wrong.
And it just updated.

Anima Academy by Requiem Jeer is an original fantasy setting fic with 42 chapters.
Quote:Casimir Toomes has been pretty successful as an adventurer... until he wasn't. With his team shattered and the surviving members scattered to the four winds, he went back to his home country of Anima, and at his Master's behest, became a teacher at the Academy of High Magic.
Sure, his Master keeps bugging him to take on some personal students of his own, but he's not in this teaching gig for good, it's just a temporary thing, as a favor.
There's absolutely no way he'll get attached to any of the brats.

Alas, I haven't been able to get Calibre to work for a couple of years now. Some library it wants for the install that isn't included in the one and only Ubuntu distro that will actually half-ass work with the graphics card I have, but either doesn't appear at all when searching the repos but should in fact be part of the default install if I believe the documentation pages. Royal Road only stuff I have to get each chapter as HTML individually if I want a local copy, though at least DownThemAll works with only a little manual tweaking of the download list with "chapter" set for the auto-filter term, and setting destination folder. FicHub works pretty well for SB-adjacent sites and FFn, if often at a week or more delay, and AO3 has their own epub etc. download button, but RR is almost as much of a pain as ReadNovelFull & Co.

Do you know the name of the repo? I can try to help... or ask someone, depending.
Actually, the distro would probably help, too, if you want to get technical. Probably the wrong thread for getting into it, but I'm happy to help regardless.

Thanks, but if I could see well enough to read the console text with confidence I'd probably have fixed it myself by now. x(somethingsomething)cursor(version number) from what I remember, but at this point I'm used to working around the lack of Calibre, irritating as it is. My own fault for buying an NVidia gpu, when I know they're shitters about *nix compatibility.

And it's appreciated, I assure you. Tossing things onto my ereader to take on errrands etc. isn't exactly conducive to leaving feedback, but it makes a very welcome distraction with watching people or scenery, or reading text with letters smaller than a fingernail like a physical book or magazine, is effectively impossible.
