RIP Arthur Frommer, author of Europe on 5 Dollars a Day – the first "travel on a budget" guidebook.
Let's ignore the fact that inflation brought that up to 95 dollars a day; that wasn't his fault. Go straight to the second-order effect he had on the world: If it wasn't for Frommer's book and others that copied its basic premise, Douglas Adams would never have wished for a hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
