On the McDonald one.
Some 60 years ago, according to publicly available data, you could buy 6 burgers at 60 dollar cents each at McDonald's for an hour's wage working as a staff member for McDonald's.
Nowadays you cannot afford a single burger even after working there for an hour.
Staff are not getting paid less relative to the value of the food because they work less hard, they are getting paid less because the shareholders and CEO want bigger yachts.

How it started, and how it's going.
Oh sweet meteor of death
Fall upon us.
Deliver us in fire
To Peace everlasting.

According to a New York Times screenshot I saw in a Tumblr post (for whatever that's worth), right before he was shot, he'd just been asked how many mass shootings he thought there'd been in the last decade and answered by asking whether the querent were counting or not counting gang violence. If the poster invented that shot screenshot, they need to be drummed out of the Subtle Fiction Writers' League post-haste, and if they didn't, that needs to happen to the entire writers' room at the Reality Studio.

For clarification; between 'lifting the ban does nothing' and 'burn down the parliament building' is also 'the police gun down at least 19 protesters in an attempt to squash the protest'.
That seems like something that's rather important when protests turn into violent revolts that burn down national legislatures.

yeah, I heard that bit later on, didn't realize this post skipped that fact.
From further news I've heard, the protesters rescued the PM's wife from the PM's burning house after he abandoned her there to save his own hide.

Fact check: Bloom County was only published in the 1980s (not counting the 2015 revival).

okay, so I misremembered, it's been a long time since I read Bloom County and that was in softcover book collections of the strips.

Fact check: Outland was a Sunday-only spin-off, from 1989 until 1995, of Bloom County, featuring many of the same characters. From the start, that little girl, Ronald-Ann, was one of them.

If the image came from Outland, then it should not have been identified as being from Bloom County.

Is it me or is Robkelk being extra nitpicky lately?
I don't know which series it's actually from. I saw it online, vaguely recalled reading it (and associated strips) way back when. I saw Bill the Cat/Trump and assumed Bloom County because that's what came to mind first (I forgot that Outland wasn't just more Bloom County)
