Don't have time right now to do the "welcome and please read this page" post on the troper's talk page...

Done.  I also checked on the contribution, and yeah, like Geth said, not a cut'n'paste job.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XVII
I don't expect Wikia will be done until next month at least with their Unified Community Platform update (when Wikia moves from an ancient MediaWiki 1.19 to MediaWiki 1.33+), but sometime soon, I was wondering if the admins of ATT Miraheze would be willing to get Miraheze to make a current image dump and a latest revision only data dump of ATT Miraheze.

I want to not only replace all the broken links on Wikia, I want to replace a lot of coyright tire fires (this includes a bunch of articles whose status is somewhat dodgy) left as artifacts from the old ATT wiki on Wikia.

I'm just a regular user now on Miraheze, but if that could be done soon and left somewhere easy for Wikia to upload like Archive.org or somewhere similar, that would be great if possible.

I need both a data and image dump, Wikia won't import the images alone without at least a current revision File table dump. They'll handle any copyright crap for images we still have yet to tag properly, they just want a data and image dump that's current. and I just need a current revision data dump for CC BY SA attribution purposes, not full history.

In the meantime, I'm going to do my best to clean up all the garbage in preparation for that.

P.S. - I could get by with just a dump of the File, Category, Template, and Module namespaces current revision data dump while also having a recent images dump from 2020.
RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XVII
Just noticed a couple of things while planning to make a note about how one comedy series won more Emmys this year than Friends won in its entire 10-year run ("It won every single award in the comedy categories, becoming the first series in the 72-year history of the awards to do so.")

a) We don't have a page for Schitt's Creek to be updated, and
b) Our coverage of the Emmy Award is crap.

Somebody who actually watches TV should do something about this (at least point "b"),,,

I don't run the ATT Miraheze branch at this point, but the deviant I showed the door showed up to complain on our subreddit, answered in a way I believe speaks for us all:

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XVII
Of course, if anyone seems inclined to take him at his word, you can always point them at this thread and the various talk pages where everything was worked out in public. If he didn't want to get treated as a troll, he shouldn't've acted like a troll. If he'd been genuinely willing to work with us on removing the excessive dripping goo from his articles, he would still have an account and be counted as a valued member. But he wasn't, and acted as though the wiki was his personal sandbox and we were wickedly depriving him of his god-given right to be as disgusting as he wanted there.

In the interests of transparency, I filed this request for 2020 ATT image dump and a current revision dump of the File namespace from Miraheze:

https://phabricator.miraheze.org/T6227

If any ATT Miraheze admins would like to comment further, please do so by all means.
RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XVII
I'll hold off on making any more image updates for a bit, then - help keep the database stable.

In a related note, this category lists the images that should be deleted but currently cannot be deleted that we know about, this category lists the missing images that we know about, and the subpages of this page list the images that need licenses.

As long as I was in Phabricator to confirm Geth's request is in accordance with our wiki's policies, I created this request to get the known undeletable files deleted.

(I was going to add a request to delete the undeletable CM pages, but we can delete them now, so I did.)

Wow. Kuma actually purged 9K of ... whatever it was ... from one of the tropes they put in the workshop. I still can't bring myself to read their stuff, though... did it do any good?

Could the other mods please review the recent changes to Tomboy and In Touch with His Feminine Side made by Raymanbell. Not only is there a lot of it, some of it strikes me as subjective material presented as objective fact, they've added subvarieties of both that I've never seen categorized elsewhere, and (for the "Jaywalking" entry in this list) has apparently dug out and is using an extremely uncommon term, "Janegirl", for the male counterpart of a Tomboy as described in the second article, as though it were in daily usage.

EDIT: I posted too soon: They also spread their classification system to Tomboy and Girly Girl and Sensitive Guy and Manly Man

(goes and looks)

Trope redefinition without consensus. And Wikipedia redirects "Janegirl" to "sissy", so considering my current drive to get slurs out of the wiki that doesn't win any points in my book. And the blatant testosterone poisoning would only be (barely) tolerable if these were YMMV tropes, but they aren't.

Reverting the edits with this explanatory text as the edit reason:
Quote:(1) The edit substantially changed the definition of the trope without having gained consensus in the trope's Talk page or the wiki forum before being made, and (2) the edit contained an apparently-pejorative term that is not defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary or Oxford English Dictionary.

EDIT: And the way this troper redefined Sensitive Guy and Manly Man - by setting rules for what is or is not an example of the trope without gaining consensus for those rules beforeband - is clearly "trying to drown out others' opinions" and thus a violation of rule 1 of the Terms of Service. Raymanbell gets a three-day vacation from editing the wiki.

Bad news and good news.

Bad news first: It looks like today is the day for people to push how far they can get away with things... Mark D. Gordon is now On Notice for again deleting without explanation works on a trope page.

Now the good news: We now have a license template for CC-BY-SA 4.0, and a higher-level category for all of the CC-BY-SA categories.

Hmmmmm... I'm tempted to add a particular writer/troper to this list... There Is No Such Thing As Notability, after all.

I asked on June 25 for verification that the Real Life people listed on this page actually are involved in the project.

I just put a deadline on the page. If verification isn't provided by November 1, the entire page will be excised in order to protect the wiki.

My Uncle Arthur definitely belongs on it.

And no, no joke -- the brother William mentioned in the first sentence of the bio section is my late father.

Thanks, Rob. I tend to be a bit hesitant when it comes to stuff like this because I don't want to do a Fast Eddie on anyone, so I give a lot of benefit of doubt, even where it might not be merited.

Yeah, this looks like someone "casting" their roleplay the way some fanfic authors cast their characters.  (I know we have a trope for that somewhere, but i can't remember what it's called.)  I doubt you're going to get anyone proving celebrity involvement in the next month.

RE: All The Tropes Wiki Project, Part XVII
This MAY be a Wikia specific problem, but just a warning if they migrate over to Miraheze.

Some unrepentant sockpuppeter from Wikia just ate a global ban courtesy of my reporting them because they insisted on posting incredibly detailed masturbation fantasies about their adultery fetish and explict porn images. Wikia has already shown this guy the door, but given how they were incredibly persistent in sockpuppeting and based on their grammar and conduct are likely some mentally challenged, oversexed manchild who is pathologically compelled to let their freak flag fly, just keep watch for the next few weeks in case this idiot tries to migrate to Miraheze.

Hint: Keep close watch on the Gibo page, idiot was obsessed with that one.

Noted. Gibo is now on my watchlist - and I didn't put any protection on the page. Coal mine, meet canary...

Is it wrong to expect other Tropers to add to a work page?

Asking because I'm the only one who has added anything to the page for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? It's kind of lonely ...
