Hrmm... Her nose doesn't quite have that tuetonic regality that Asuka has... Otherwise... *Smitten* (^_^)
EDIT: After a brief Google Image search (BTW: check out today's Google Doodle) I've come to the conclusion that this is the better cosplayer - she has a much closer bone-structure to what we see in the anime.

This next one, though, looks like the real deal Eurasian - like what a real-life Asuka (3/4 German, 1/4 Japanese) would look like.  And holy shit, those have got to be the best looking plugsuits EVER!

It's a hard choice for me to make - I'd love to see something that has the best features of both faces if somebody has something like it.

Oh yes, she's a cute one. She's got several other galleries on Sankaku Complex, I noticed.

Why is this inspirational?

I, along with all the rest of my younger brothers, were the sort of children that caused their mother to be on a first-name basis with the doctors, nurses, and orderlies of the local ER. No kidding.

When Ben and Gina finally have their son, this will happen. Exactly as it is written (except for the date), for this is the power of the Wave. *Evil Grin*

A science fiction airshow... one can just imagine how real it would actually be in Fenspace, albeit not hosted in the US.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/06/16/solar_storms/]NASA is expecting very heavy solar activity in 2013, according to The Register.

This is going to make a couple of scenes in LoGG Chapter 4 a bit more difficult to write... and a couple a bit easier to write.

We've all seen the 1:1 scale Gundam by now. Certainly, the Chinese have... http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20010582-1.html]and they've borrowed from a different franchise for their 1:1 scale robot.

US Navy tests a laser powerful enough to shoot down small aircraft.

(Summary: Can kill UAVs, cruise missiles, easily; fighters or bombers, maybe more difficult...)

A new thread over on the SJGames Forums has me a bit sad that we've established one has to do some work in order to turn something into a spacecraft. There's something appealing about renting a hangar and stocking it with a DVD, a 55-gallon drum of handwavium, and a really big box of LEGO, and getting http://www.xenobuzz.com/MyLegoCreations/Gunstar.htm]one of these after a week... or renting a drydock and stocking it with some Japanese government documents, a tanker-truck filled with handwavium, and a really colossal box of LEGO, and getting http://gizmodo.com/5214510/lego-battles ... -ship-ever]one of these after a few months.

Both in 1:1 scale, of course.

Hmmmmmm... Gunstars. Ultimate heavy hitter in aerospace dominance. Few things can get past a good Star-Gunner/Star-Navigator team.

Good quirk for Gunstars as a class: Aaaaaaand... I'm done! - after using Death Blossom, the famed weapon of last resort, a Gunstar will simply up and quit. The only way to get it back up and running is to tow her back to base to rearm, refuel, and recharge.

Primary Users (maybe?) : Trekkers, Warsies, VVS, and Roughriders (primary manufacturer).

I think the Gunstars are too heavily-armed for the Trekkies... but StellviaCorp might want one. (It isn't as if "Mama Bear" can't wait patiently for a tow even after the life support runs out.)

Now, how are we going to arm the silly thing? It can't use wavetech laser munitions, because those don't exist...

Interesting.
Energy as it applies to a single planetary entity is an entirely different beast when compared to interstellar governments.  In that case, it boils down to "Who has more resources?" or even "Who has the richest real estate?"
What makes this really difficult to pin down is that everyone in Fenspace has independent energy sources.  In a pinch, Handwavium Solids will provide slightly more than enough juice for you to get by.  And then there are those of us who have a greater demand, such as the Roughriders, where Benjamin has reinvented nuclear fission reaction to gain a unique high-yield source of energy.  The drawback, of course, is that it relies on a consumable resource.  Of course, their R&D types are working on this.
The simple truth is that with energy resources so readily available and abundant in space, power monopolies depend on how much real estate you have and how big of a military force you are able to wield.  at least, that's my take on it.

Modified Mars - a map of a terraformed Mars that aligns pretty damn closely to my vision of Fenspace's final Mars. Obviously the names and places are different, but the geography works out nicely.

Now if I can only figure out how to make my own goddamn version...
