Crossovers that should not be: Reigning in (the) Chaos

#26
Tonight on House, Doctors Katara and Zuko face off over the fate of a patient, while Aang tries to help Wilson teach House a lesson in caring about people. There is a brief touch on the season arc plot, involving Toph trying to buy out the hospital, but it is only a passing mention that Cuddy is in meetings regarding it and unavailable to resolve the argument (the actress was in hospital herself while this ep was filmed, she was originally planned to have a larger part but her time was replaced by a rather fumbling Sokka/Thirteen date.).

So, here's one from me that involves no anime or games for a change.

The Mentalist/Monk.

Originally thought of for what's basically a rather superficial similarity in their backstories, but still I suspect that Monk and Jane working together could be... interesting. (Based, admittedly, on a total viewing time for Monk of 3/4 of one episode.)

Section 9 is called in to America after a vicious civil war has resulted in the complete collapse of society there. Their goal? To locate the man responsible before he and his ideology can migrate to other countries and damage them all. The suspect? Well, no one knows what he looks like but they call him Tyler Durden.

(O_O) Whooooaaaaahhh.... I can only imagine Motoko having to match wits against the like of Tyler Durden. That... and with all sorts of cybernetic funkiness available in the GitS-verse, a throwdown between the two would definitely be interesting to watch. Motoko has |/|4d 5k1||5, but Tyler is an instinctive fighter. If he had cybernetic strength, toughness, and twitch-reactions, could Motoko trully best him?

The first time I saw this post, just skimming it without having seen the ones that led to it on the page before, my initial thought was one of "cybernetic funkiness" involving a different Mokoto.
A young man gifted with the ability to interface with and control technology makes a (possibly) wrong turn in his trans-dimensional search for his android soul-mate:
Demon-God in the Shell: Stand alone Hazard.

No, I don't believe the world has gone mad.  In order for it to go mad it would need to have been sane at some point.

This comment by Shadowjack in the current IWIW Sailor Moon thread:
Quote:I notice that it's been fairly consistent what gets [Ami's] righteous dander up: kids getting hurt, and close friends getting fucked with. Let us hope that if she ever has kids herself, no one dares touch them, because she'd call up a tsunami…
made me wonder - Is Dr. Mizuno Ami by any chance the pediatrician for Takamachi Nanoha? It would explain where the younger MG got some of her attitudes...

How about getting Sousuke Sagara and Mindy Macready (Hit-Girl) working together.

I was browsing TVTropes today, when the idea of Commander Shepard and the Normandy (either Normandy) finding themselves in the world of Star Control 2 came to mind.
I don't know how it got there, but I find it oddly compelling.

Quoting from the current IWIW Sailor Moon thread:
Shadowjack Wrote:Mad crossover time: A few years from now, they try to build his prototype spacewarp gate and accidentally blow up the Moon, because they accidentally tapped into old Silver Millennium leylines or something. The second attempt worked better. This explains why they've so easily terraformed the Solar System in the Bebop universe—they reactivated the ooooold environmental systems.

The most feared Bounty Hunters in the System wear white sailor uniforms, and no one's ever seen their faces…)

In what way is this a crossover that should NOT be?
Also, another fun idea.
Harry Potter from 'Methods of Rationality' and Michael Weston from his 'Devil' episode (s3e11, "Friendly Fire") get together to take down a Death Eater cell.

The Angels of the 3rd Impact:

Usagiel
Reiiel
Makotiel
Minakiel
Amiel
Michiel
Hariel
Setsiel
And, of course, the most deceptive Final Angel:  Chibiel.

God only knows how such a frakked-up situation could come about.  But if you thought Shinji was messed up before.....

My vote is for her to take over for NGE!Lilith.  Which is sorta the same thing, ish.

From the Usenet group uk.media.animation.anime, where the big divide isn't "subs vs. dubs" or "fansubs vs. licenced anime", it's "mecha vs. magical girls":
Adam Jones Wrote:Or, for anyone watching Nanoha, why shouldn't magical girls be giant mecha?
Rob Kelk Wrote:Only problem is "Little Miss Bikini Atoll" (as some folks refer to Nanoha) isn't that big...
Adam Jones Wrote:Isn't cloaking technology wonderful? Of course, reducing your target profile is insufficiently Manly and impulsive for true mech pilots, but do you want to argue with her?

Of course, given the thread, some part of my brain is now wondering about Eva pilots as Unison Devices... ("Shinji! Unison in!" Wink

Speaking of which, ISTR the existence of a Nanoha vs. Sachiel doujinshi out there somewhere. Now there's a Third Impact for you.

Just imagine how much trouble would be available to be had on Pandora if a certain other crippled soldier, much to our acquaintance, were to have been the one selected for the mission.

One with quite a few years of covert intelligence experience.
