Je ne suis pas une Intelligence Artificielle Turing. Je suis Charlie.

Mystic Knight Online (HP/SAO)- Through a rearranged timeline and some moderately contrived circumstances, Harry Potter joins the launch of Sword Art Online in the summer before third year. Needless to say, this gets some attention.
Monochrome Duet (SAO) - After Asuna leaves to become co-leader of the Knights of Blood, Kizmel turns back up in Kirito's life.
Remnant (RWBY, F/SN) - Weiss manages to over-do a summoning Glyph during the Battle of Beacon. She is answered by a Hero.
Apparently Video Games Really Are Bad For Your Brain (SAO) - Fem!Kirito does things a little differently from her male counterpart.
Rise of a New Moon
(Code Geass) - Lelouch's canon memory gets dropped off into 10-year-old Luna vi Britannia, hours before the start of the invasion. Things go Differently.

This was the newest story on TTH this morning when I checked, and it is worth reading. From Phouka's megacrossover Buffyverse, it's a short but very good examination of just what the qualifications for a Slayer really are.

Not quite a normal story, or even a set of stories, I'm going to pitch this time:
http://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/t ... est.32005/
Set just after The Original Series movies we're trying very, very hard to not have the Federation explode, die, get eaten or otherwise destroyed. The Captain's logs are great, showing the highlights of a three month stint of pushing back the boundaries of known space for each ship on a five year mission.
And then there's the omakes.
Also, our Enterprise Captain crashed the quest's combat engine instead of letting a loss stand.

Contains: Lesbian blue Kirk (not actually Kirk), Regular Lesbians, lots and lots of pages arguing about ship design (that you'll probably want to skip) and so many characters there's databases and a writer's guide to other people's OCs.
Right now we're engaged in a police action against the Orion Syndicate, but there have been space monsters and Cardassians causing problems as well.
Clell65619 has posted the first chapter of a new fic, Legion, which looks like it'll be fun for the few chapters he anticipates it taking. In the distant future, the remaining members of the Legion of Super Heroes needs a magical hero to take on Mordru, a magical enemy who has succeeded in taking over galactic civilization. They dig deep into their folklore about the wizards of ages past who were so much more powerful than wizards of their day, look for one who vanishes completely from the historical record, and then go back in time to recruit the unspeakably awesome, cosmically powerful... Harry Potter.

Hmm, a few good ones I've started following lately:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/11540013/1 ... f-old-laws

In "Benefits of Old Laws", the newly resurrected Voldemort is ... much more sane than his canonical counterpart. And decides on a rather different strategy.

Among other things, he now knows about the soul fragment in Harry. Which means Harry has to be protected just as much as any other Horcrux does.
So Thomas Gaunt, Lord Slytherin, is going to ... adopt Harry Potter. And protect him. And be a good father to him.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/11862560/1 ... ch-Without

"To Reach Without": Harry would really like very much to Not Be Harry Potter. Magic replies, "Okay, then. Here you go." And hands him a different life, if he can reach out and take it. I note that the author makes extensive use of a bit of AU rejiggering of things, smoothing out some of what they see as JKR's historical mistakes - making Wizarding Britain a much more Celtic/Romanic culture than the faux-Victorian setup JKR presented - originally featured in another story of theirs.

Speaking of which: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/11762909/1/The-Long-Game

The Long Game features a Britain where Voldemort's War never happened - Thomas Riddle, Lord Gaunt, is an influential politician who never did become a Dark Lord. Charissa Potter (fem!Harry) was raised entirely within Wizarding culture, by James and Lily, who of course aren't dead. And is helping her Best Friend, Hermione Granger, fit in. And maybe a bit more.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/12149998/1 ... a-in-Solem

"Ex Umbra In Solem". Harry Potter, Master of Death, has been cast through the Veil by an ungrateful Wizengamot. He lands in the summoning circle where Kiritsugu Emiya is summoning Saber. Things proceed to go a bit off the rails.

I just finished reading all the extant chapters of this, and damn it is good.  It's also very slowly revealed to be something of a megacrossover world.  But I can hardly have problems with that.

People outside SAO being able to watch remains an amazing concept that changes the future story in so many ways. I'm amazed more fics don't use it.

I normally stay away from HP fanfic because I'm unable to tolerate OOC Dumbledore, but your vote of confidence means I might check it out.
Dumbledore's role in this story is minimal at best -- mostly as an observer on the sidelines -- and as far as I can tell is not seriously divergent from canon. Given that the events of the story are very unlike anything that happened in canon (and the era of the HP continuity has been shoved some thirty years into future to match SAO), one cannot strictly say he is canon!Dumbledore, but he's certainly not any of the egregious fanfic Flanderizations.

When I first saw SAO I could never figure why SAO wasn't broadcast - it's not like it would be worse than the Reality TV we already have.

Ranma/FSN, more than slightly cracktastic.

Ranma Saotome, de-aged by the Chinese Mushrooms, is lost in Fuyuki at the wrongest moment possible: the conclusion of the Fourth Grail War. Rendered amnesiac by the fire, and seven years old by the mushrooms, Ranma is taken in by Kiritsugu alongside Shirou. Needless to say, Hilarity Ensues.

The best fanfic take on Dumbledore I've seen was Diane Castle's in Hermione Granger and the Boy Who Lived.

edit: I suppose I should link it huh?

No, I don't believe the world has gone mad.  In order for it to go mad it would need to have been sane at some point.

I just got to the end of chapter 39 of this -- which is the last chapter I have in my Kindle, and I see there is a new chapter on FF.net.  Let me second Norway's recommendation on this -- it's very good and it's going on my "check for updates" list.  (One of these days I'll have to break down and sign up at FF so I don't have to manually check all my favorite fics once a week...)

Every time I notice this story I get the giggles thinking of the utter "what the FRAK is going on? has everyone gone COMPLETELY BUGNUTS INSANE?" that has to be going through certain heads as they try to figure out just who is on which side.... Draco and Sirius, brothers in Cognitive Dissonance. Wink

Heh. I love the moment where Sirius and Voldemort burst into Hogwarts side by side and practically demand in chorus to know how Harry's doing after an attack on him. I also love how Voldemort is absolutely baffled by the fact that he seems to have more empathy for people now than he did as a kid -- and that despite this and trying to be a good father and actually caring about Harry and all the other changes he undergoes, he's still no paragon, and still longs for the occasional cursing (of someone else, not him, as stress relief). I also love how his goals haven't changed much -- but his methods, and the information on which he bases his actions, have, and it's enough to shift him out of pure bad-guy and into an anti-villain -- while Dumbledore remains almost exactly as he is in canon, and comes off as a potentially senile villain in comparison. (And how when Dumbledore does one of the things many fic authors suggest he should in order to improve the good guys' chances against Voldemort -- which is reveal the horcruxes and what needs to be done to the Order -- instead of making things better for him, it's probably made things worse.) The author is very good at what he does -- almost professional level if not already there -- and he thoroughly thinks the implications of his changes through. This is an absolute delight to read.
EDIT:  I was a bit effusive above, so I should temper it a bit.  For quite a bit of the beginning of the fic, the author is plagued by word choice errors -- you know, where/were confusion, things like that -- spellchecker miscorrects and other stuff that a good proofreader would take care of.  And indeed, he eventually does get a beta reader and the number of errors plunges dramatically, although they don't disappear entirely.  Still, I normally have little patience with this kind of systematic error.  That the story carried me through and past the annoyance should say a lot for the author's ability everywhere else.
