  Looking for a program...
Posted by: Morganite - 05-02-2008, 05:23 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

I'd like to find a program that will act as a virtual DVD recorder.

It's pretty easy to find virtual disc drive programs. But what I'm looking for is something that will appear to the system as a recording device, which
I can then have another program write to. But instead of writing it to a DVD, it'll create an image file.

Anyone know where I could find such a thing?

  A Disturbing Read...
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 05-02-2008, 02:57 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

Read why Nick Bostrom, the director of the Future of Humanity Institute at the University of Oxford, hopes that our attempts to disover extraterrestrial life fail, and why that would be good for humanity. And no, it's not because he's afraid we'd be invaded or culturally overrun. I can't decide if this is an optimistically pessimistic viewpoint, or a pessimistically optimistic one...

  Two new players!
Posted by: Matrix Dragon - 05-01-2008, 02:20 PM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (8)

Over the past few weeks, I've gotten two of my friends into City of Heroes, with the three of us forming a small SG for all our characters (I think we all
suffer from the usual Alt-itis Tongue ), and in the interests of getting them in contact with more good players, given they've both got a chance of being on at
decent hours American time, I was hoping to invite them to the Legendary chat channel. Is that alright with you guys?

  Melee defense set comparisons
Posted by: Morganite - 05-01-2008, 04:53 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (2)

How are you powergaming gentlemen!

Arcanaville has posted a rather exhaustive spreadsheet comparing all the melee character defensive sets.

I haven't gotten around to playing with it much yet, but while the metrics it compares aren't necessarily perfect (because that's probably
impossible), it seems to show some interesting things.

  Japan's Oldest Robot
Posted by: robkelk - 05-01-2008, 12:39 AM - Forum: Future Steps - Replies (1)

Spotted on The Inquirer: Ancient Robot Rebooted

What I find interesting in that article are that the robot was built in Showa 1 - in our calendar, 1928 - and that it was powered by a primitive pneumatic system.

Now, if we were to change "pneumatic" to "steam-powered", and push the date just one year earlier so that it was built in the Taisho era, then Doug might help Kohran build this robot when he visits the Sakura Wars universe.

Just a thought...  8)

User Friendly - testing the new game

This week, the User Friendly guys are testing a "pre-release" version of D&D 4E. Leave it to Sid to know which game got there first... and to make a joke about it.

  Save yourselves!!!!!
Posted by: Foxboy - 04-30-2008, 09:32 PM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (4)

Folks in-channel already know of my problems with my father's schoolwork.

Well tonight is hell as we have to cram 1200 words into his "essay" before midnight, and he won't work on it while I'm not here to hold his
hand. ><

I have a long shift at work I'm about to go on, and as soon as I walk in the door he's going to start in on me.

So.... I'm not going to be online much at all tonight.
